E-books and transfer of books - need help please!!

I have a UK kindle and my sister has a Kobo bought in Germany. I read on a forum, that one can transfer books from one to another
e-book, the format needs to be changed.
My UK Kindle does not allow me to use Amazon.de. and they have only a limited selection of German books on Amazon.co.uk.
I've also got a book from another website and have done nothing with it so far.

Somebody please tell me what I must do. I have a Laptop and wifi.

If they are in another format you can download calibre e-book manager and this will do it for you!

You need books for your Kindle to be in MOBİ format. You can convert to this format using the e-calibre software. I have a document which explains how to use the software. I can email it to you if you post your email address. You can transfer the boks from your sisters device into a file on your laptop and then transfer into Calibre and convert to mobi format before loading onto your kindle.

I didn't know you could get this until my nephew offered me a copy of the CD he'd bought on EBay. Apparently you can buy CD with thousands of books on them compatible with Kindle. He copied the CD onto a flash drive for me and it works.

There is a lady at Lambrusco Market every Saturday who sells kindle books on CD they are listed by author and cost 5tl each. Excellent value

There are thousands and thousands of ebooks on sites like PirateBay ( http://thepiratebay.org/ ) Isohunt ( http://isohunt.com/ ) Torrenz ( http://www.torrentz.com/ ) etc. I 've found just about every book I've looked for, mostly by well-known authors and especially 'out of print' older books by authors I've only just discovered.
As previously mentioned, MOBI is the preferred format for Kindle but the excellent Caibre software will take care of conversions from other formats if you can't find MOBI.
