Internet/Laptop Working in Catalkoy

A family member will be staying with me in Catalkoy for 20 days in June and she is a moderator of a national newspaper forum. She'll be working Mon to Fri approx 8 hours per day, and will have 3 Irish sites open and interactive for that time to be able to read and respond to/delete comments. We have no home tv or internet connection.
Would anyone on the forum know if a local provider dongle would be sufficient for reliable internet access of this type? She has previously spent hours in internet cafes, which is less than sociable, so any advice on how to work from home would be greatly appreciated!

10GB (per month allowance) Turkcell 3G usb dongle should do the trick. Can be purchased from the Turkcell phone shop in Girne. Have used one of these in the Catalkoy area no problems and downloads speeds are good. cost for the allowance 70TL not sure about how much you will have to pay for the dongle itself. I recommend the 10GB because of the volume of work she will be doing.

A dongle would not practical to work for 8 hour a day.
You will need a internet connection for this type of work, which for 20 days is not a cheap option.

Karmels, that 10GB allowance will give her 500 Megabytes per day and she's only viewing and appending websites, if she does max out the allowance then she can buy another 10GB. So worse case 140TL (£50) for 20GB that's 1GB per day. What's not to like?

Raffs.
Having been down this road with a dongle, only using it to read the news and emails twice a day it lasted 2 weeks.
To spend 8 hours a day on the internet, every time the person changes web site to keep up with the job I would say the dongle would last at the most 4 days.
Don't forget this is required for work not social means with a lot of input.
Maybe someone from Multimax could answer this question.

Thanks so much for the replies. She may consider the multimax option of getting an internet connection that can be frozen when not here....but it does seem rather expensive for just 20 days. The turkcell dongle could be the best option, as long as its reliable....otherwise all the posts will be backing up!!

COG, When I visit Northern Cyprus I have to be able to connect to various servers and client machines as part of the job I do, so I purchase the 10GB allowance and it suffices no problems. The only way you could max out is by streaming movies and unknowingly allowing your computer to download major service pack updates. If she changes the windows update to "notify but don't download" in the control panel of her PC when she is over here that should take care of it. Perhaps the only concern for now should be how good a 3G signal you'll get and the best way to check is ask your neighbours if they are using 3G (turkcell) and how they rate it for speed.

I've got a turkcell dongle, I view tv programmes, facebook, email etc and I may have laptop on for up to 6 hours a day, 10gb will usually last me about 21+ days. I'm in Yesiltepe and get good reception and speeds. The Turkcellguy in Lemar, Karakum is very helpful.

If you have a landline go to SunnyCyprus, next door to BestSellers,in Karakum.Take out 1 years subscription, plus modem,260tl,but do it now,as it takes approx 2 weeks to connect.Cheapest internet on the Island.
