Google Toolbar

Along the lines of the previous Delta Search problem, I have lost the use of the Google Toolbar. It's in the Add On list as disabled but nothing I do seems to get it to enable. I've done everything to get rid of malware etc as suggested in the Delta Search thread (didn't realise my computer was so infected with stuff), but still can't get the toolbar to enable.

Does anybody out there have any clues? Many thanks.

I'm a bit of a luddite and the sane thing happened to me but didn't think of the most obviously until someone pointed out. I deinstalled Google off my PC. Went on to their web site, reinstalled it (using the same details) and suddenly everything was back to normal. If you've already done this then I'm sorry I wouldn't know what else to do!!

Nope, that didn't work. Uninstalled everything to do with Google, reinstalled just the toolbar and there it is in the Add On list but won't enable. Help!!!.. Because it's so useful, especially translate....

Many thanks for any help.

Does that mean that you can't even contact Google direct for assistance?

Do you have another toolbar that is taking priority?
If so, try uninstalling this one.

not sure what came before computers and luddites but I am one......... for all my failings I am logical.

The other week I downloaded some adobe / window updates.....consequently a few days later some of my sites I frequent failed to work... it was later discovered that these updates were not compatible...I too tried removing programmes and reloading and this failed.

What did work was going back to the control panel and restoring my computer to the last restore point

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Recovery........ see if that works....good luck

Just checking the blooming obvious, Right click your mouse in an empty area of any toolbars you have on display and the toolbar display options come up. If google toolbar isn't ticked do so. It may be the answer, I hope so as it is an easy fix

That was a good suggestion H2555, I'd forgotten that one and huggiesbob suggestion has also worked for me in the past. I bet its going to turn out to be something really basic - these supposedly horrendous problems usually are!! BTW I've found in the past that Adobe and its updates can be a real pain in the b*m. They've mucked up my settings more times than I can remember.
