Can I get temp residency without husband

We have bought in Catalkoy and I will be moving in later this month, however, my husband will only stay for a month and will then return to work and visit me every 10 weeks or so. I am unsure if I can start my residency without him, also do we have to collect the residency ourselves or can a runner collect them.
Thanks
Lor

http://www.brstrnc.com - I think is the BRS website where you can check up on all things to do with residency. There are quite a few wives here with husbands working away, and I think they have residency - so there must be a way! Or when you are here, go to the Hut on a Saturday morning and ask the person on Hut duty (behind post office)

Hi mamachina, Thanks for your reply, I have already been on the site and there are a couple of lines which state, "Residence permits will not normally be issued to persons who live and work abroad or to their dependents even if the dependents wish to remain in trnc full time" So I was hoping for replys from people that have found a way. My husband will be with me for 4 weeks, but I doubt if we can get it done in time. Thanks Lor

i would assume that you apply for the temp resi in your own name and not in your husbands name as he is not going to be here he will just need a visitor stamp in his passport

As long as you can show that you have enough money in the bank to support your self there is no problem the visas are individual. It can take up to four weeks but the police always say two. Good luck.

I know couples that do their residency separately so it should be possible. What you will need though is either a kocan, sales contract or rental contract with your name on it as well as a bank account.
