Please vote to help us decide the best way forward for new postings on Kibkom.

When I see note 'moved" I do not know where to look, I may be thick, but not good at these sort of things.

Rocking, you just have to click on the link and it will take you directly to the post within the category that it has been moved to. The word "Moved" is just an indicator that the post is placed elsewhere, you will see the category after you click on the link.

Definitely KibKom needs KISS. (Keep it Simple, Stupid') Not everyone is computer literate; not everyone has time to try to fathom out what is where, so.... let's see how the voting goes, but I have a feeling that the third option will prove to be the most popular!

But I am not the font of all wisdom - let the people decide!

I may be having a blonde moment, so please bear with me, what is the point of moving threads to their correct categories AND leaving them on the main forum?

Personally, when I come onto the forum it is in the hope of finding a varied selection of subjects being discussed, some of which I may like to contribute to.

But, and it was happening on a regular basis, the only subjects being discussed at length and by the same few members was lost/found dogs, places that people could not take their dogs, having to pay for parking and the same old jaded 'artistes' advertising.

I know a number of members off the forum and it is for these reasons that they no longer come on the forum, they too are of the same opinion, put subjects under their correct categories.

If I want to buy or sell something, I go to the sales section, if my cat is lost, I put it on lost and found, If I want to buy a car I go to the motor section. Easy, if I can do it, anyone can.

It would be good if those KibKomers who have dropped out could post their thoughts here.
As to interesting discussions - someone has to start them - and any kibkomer may and can.
Just hope that plenty of people vote, otherwise it won't be truly representative of the majority./

Keep the debating for another thread this is supposed to be a vote pure and simple. Personally I am happy to go with Soner's new format so thats' a tick.
However unless I am mistaken there has been a drop off in activity more recently and particularly compared with 6-8 months ago, I therefore suspect that the majority favour all threads being on the general forum even if they do not make the effort to vote one way or the other.

Apologies I suppose this is a separate thread for further debate since the voting is at the top. My mistake, should learn to read more carefully.

I am one who prefers threads to be on one forum, except For sale and Wanted. It is easy to skip the subjects that your not interested in, it's easy to see what is new by looking at the date on the right hand side, and the reason I say leave the For Sale and Wanted in their own section is because that is a definite subject, that you either want to sell or buy something. The others can be random, that catch your eye and you find an interesting discussion by accident. I see dogs wandering about all the time with collars on, but do not bother to go to Pets each time, but if I see a heading that someone has lost a dog that I have just seen, then I'll go on to the thread for more info.

I prefer not to have to scroll through lots of posts about missing cats, dogs, items for sale. So I rarely post as sometimes there are just so many of the above I can't be bothered to try and find the posts of any interest.

Stella-I used to think exactly the same as you,Preferring the main page and just going through stuff that interested me.
When Soner suggested using the 'View new posts' and 'view unread posts' buttons I gave it a whirl for a week and now I think it's the best way of viewing.
For starters you don't go over things over and over, and it also brings up things in other sections of the entire forum that may be of interest.
Give it a try and see what you think.

Aha, Philoz you are copying me! well, maybe not, but I honestly find that the easiest way. But I stilllike tothink there is ONE place I can find everything, BUT of course, there is always the SEARCH button which is at the bottom left hand corner of the page, and one canlook for things that way.

Too many categories is a bit of a pain. Yes keep for sale out of the front page and automated news but allow other categories to be amalgamated, make the "front page" busier and livelier, if people are not interested let it drop off. Then maybe have a tidy up every so often on stuff that may prove good for reference like MOT dates etc

I have made a decision as to how new posts should be handled in the General Forum.

New Rules:

1) Any posts that are to do with Sales or Events will be moved immediately to their respective category listing. These are usually promoting businesses - they have an option to buy a "Sticky", "Global Announcement" or "Ad Banner", of which payments will go towards our annual donation to mainly TRNC Charities.

2) Other misplaced posts will be moved anytime by mods within 3 days. This can mean "immediately" to anytime within the 3 days - discretion lays with my mods.

For members that like to read everything and not miss out on any good deals or events, then please get used to using the "View New Posts" or "View Unread Posts" links at the top right of each and every page.

If your post has been moved, then there is a link next to these called "View Your Posts" .

Finally, there are two other useful links that you may want to try out, at the top left of each page: "View Unanswered Posts" and "View Active Topics".

This forum is designed to cater for the different ways members would like to view threads, it is just a matter of trying the different links and using what best suits you.

I hope this helps and benefits all members.
