I look forward to reading new posts every morning but the page has been taken over by twelve posts by the same person about items for sale. They are on the sales page so why are they still on the main page? I will come back later and see if there is anything I want to read.

According to Soner it's against forum rules, for some anyway.

I wouldn't bother, I am sorry to say this but KIBCOM is chaos at the moment, because Soner is trying to please a handful of self centred people.

I have been here since it started and it was my favourite forum.

I have the utmost respect for Soner, he has put his heart and soul into the forum but he cannot be here 24 hours. Like most of us, he has to earn a living.

In my humble opinion the problem is, he is being let down by his mods.

I know there is a poll running at the minute, but I think it is a waste of time, out of 3000 members, how many have bothered to vote?

Keep it simple, someone is advertising a gig, it goes under EVENTS, immediately. Things for sale, go under, SALES, immediately.

If the mods haven't got the time to 'police' the posts, they should not have volunteered.

I did not volunteer to be a mod because I knew I did not have the time it would take to do it right.

If, however, Soner, you want a mod between the hours of 10pm and 1am, I will do it, but I will be brutal.

If that upsets people, so be it.
Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

BB, it is my fault for being indecisive. I could not ask more of my mods...this forum would not have worked without their input.
I think things have slightly got out of hand with new members joining, and I usual go lightly on them so as not to scare them off, until they get used to how things work on this forum.

Your post and feedback from other members have helped me to make a decision. I will close the poll and advise members there.

I told soner I was not going to respond to you, Butterfly, but I guess I must. Firstly it is kind of you to offer to moderate, but most of us mods ARE on line at those hours. It is the day time ones where things can slide.

However, I don't think the average KibKomer wouldappreciate brutality, or that is going beyond even cyprus 44. One of the problems and joys of a forum is the diversity of thought and opinion, so in one sense everyone's 'humble opinion' is as valud as the next, although different.

for me the main thing about moderating (again I emphasis for ME) is to 'keep the party clean' and to ensure that any postings that are unfairly critical , or contain language not found in the Oxford Dictionary do not stay on the forum long enough to upset anyone.

As to wherethe postings are, is also another matter where people differ, and it would appear from the lack of interest to Soner's poll that the argument from silence is 'We don't mind either way'

I am extremely happy to all postings to remain onthe main forum as they will eventually disappear due to lack of interest.

So, it is hats off to Soner who is owner, boss and nurse to this Forum, which of course, the larger it gets the bigger the potential headaches.

What IS important is that people find the Forum a useful place for keeping in touch with North Cyprus, debating issues on which they may feel strongly, and getting and giving information which helps others.

One final thought - although I am a moderator I am first and foremost a member of KibKom and still think it is a great forum. If I fail as a moderator then that is not a reflection on the nature of the many members we have you who super folk!

BB, I agree with you. Thread should be posted accordingly and in the proper categories. Sometimes I find threads or posts and I wish I could move them, but I can't and just go with it. I guess the head-leaders of the forum is too busy or tired, who knows. Honestly, I mainly check the main general section, sales, and events. I have posted in "pets" and no replies. I have thought about being a little defiant and posting also in the main general to see which gets a quicker reply (but I haven't/won't). Anyways, good job Soner for everything and good luck with everything in the future to come.

I think Soner has tried to solicit input and views from Kibkom members re where posts should be/stay etc and from the very low response to the survey I would agree that it appears that the vast majority of people looking at the forum are not overly concerned.

It is never going to be easy to please everyone so the new rules that Soner has posted makes things clearer. May not satisfy some people but those are the rules. I am sure there will be some who will test the rules and continue to moan a little but hopefully they will understand the reasons why.

BB - As for the forum being in chaos, have to disagree. This is the most popular forum for a reason, yes it will have its challenges but in the main it is a friendly place to visit, express an opinion and search for advice, recommendations etc. Most of the moderators agreed to help Soner when the forum was first launched and given that none of us had any idea how popular it would become I think overall it is moderated fairly. I am sure all the mods would agree that we have all learn't something during the our time moderating. We would also agree that at times we have made the odd mistake or maybe been a little hasty on occasions however in the background we do discuss our actions and just as on the forum opinions differ and we have to work these thro and agree the best course of action for the benefit of the forum. Soner of course will always have the casting vote if necessary. For example some of us were more than happy for threads to remain on the main message board to save the effort of searching, others wanted threads moved immediately.

To say that we should not have volunteered if we cannot put in the time is a little unfair. Given some of us work we cannot be on line all the time. Most of us log in at times convenient and ones that fit in with our daily lives...for me its usually first thing in the morning before work and then late in the evening. Inevitably there will be times when some of the mods are not on line for a few days for a variety of reasons. They key word here is that we are volunteers - we moderate because we want to help and at the end of the day see a successful forum open to all.

I hope that the forum remains one which is known for its friendly banter, great advice and a place where people can post without worrying that they will be made to feel a scapegoat.

Well its now time for a stroll down to the village pub after a long working week, sat inside of course as the weather is a little chilly here. A nice few to follow.

Enjoy the sunshine.

I think everything is usually working well, just now and again, some people abuse the forum, just use it when it suits them.
I bet we will not hear from 'jace' again once she sold all her wretched toys and has left Cyprus!!!

Is this thread really started because of "Jace" posting a lot about selling toys? She is moving and needed to sell, and all her posts were in the sales section. What was the problem? She is NOT the only kibkomer that is doing so and posting a lot at one time, but I do not see anyone else attacking/complaining about that/those one(s). I know there are markets that people can go and try and sell their items, but if they are too busy then that is one of the reasons this forum is for. If you are "fed up" with seeing the same issue or topic being posted, take a break and move on. Luckily their items are being sold so their posts are decreasing.
Fed up should have been started when people were posting about missing/lost/adopting/ pets. Though there is a pet section, most or all posts were under the general. And now there is a lost & found section (which consists mostly about pets)....
Anyways just get over it.

i think it wasjust an opinion of one person who was'Fed up'. It is very difficult to know the best way to attract customers - do a massive 'for sale' or draw attention individually. I think that I would go for the latter, as people do want to sell and get some money.
No one has to read anyof the postings, so i do not have a problem, but can appreciate that not everyone is ingterested in the same thing. The only way anyone would read it who is NOT interested in the Sales section is from New Posts, which I think is one of the best facets to the forum.

Maybe this is just another sign of how diverse are the members of the forum and how broad is their thinking. It just adds colour, and i think we all need to be tolerant of other people's feelings (as long as they are not critical of any one person).

as I say, no one has to read anything, and the new posts soon fall back into their appropriate section only.

We all get 'fed up/' sometimes and not just with KibKom, and it is a sign of the friendliness of this forum that people can cheer themselves up by sharing their thoughts (as I say, as long as it is not critical or destructive of any one person or organisation)

Carry on posting, and may all your sales be good ones, and may all your comments be interesting (they always are to someone)
