PM messages stuck in the Outbox

Can anyone advise why 2 PM message replies are stuck in my ooutbox??!!

I think the reason is that they do not get sent unless/until the recipient of the message is on line.

yes it is not so much they have not been sent, but rather they have not been received/opened/read.

so in future, do not panic. The message is on its way, but the recipient has not opened it.
