My electric and water bills are paid monthly by Universal my local bank. A few months ago I was concerned that my bill was high and that the bank were not paying what they should be paying, long story cut short, the timings were out and instead of owing 800 we owed 200. I had a power cut today at 10.30 and thought nothing of it, however when I went outside I noticed that my meter cupboard was open and so I looked inside to find a bill for 1150 and no fuse. I went to the bank and asked if they had been paying the bills and they said they have and gave me the printout, January, February, April and June have not been paid, the water bills had been paid every month but not the electric. I have since been back to the bank who were no help whatsoever and closed all my accounts
The number above is the electric dept technical, they are open until 23.00 hours. I went to the Girne office but they were closed. The technical dept met me at the local supermarket where I paid the bill and they followed me home to reinstall the fuse thankfully. the guys were very pleasant and patient.
So tomorrow I am going to the electric shop to get a full printout of this year, and compare what the bank says they have or have not paid, and try to get the bank to reimburse the 90tl it cost to get the fuse replaced.

Something is missing here. Do you not receive a bill from Kibtec every month? On your bill you are able to see, what you have to pay, and if you owe anything.
I use İş Bankası to pay my bills, and they send a mail every month, telling me what I have to pay, to whom and when. At the end of the month the same and the amount of money left on my account
But indeed nice to have a phone number you can call rather late.

I always pay my bills my self I dont trust any bank as they are not well organised for bill payments. Time and again a friend of mine had his phone cut off because the bank didnt pay on time.

Hi Banjo, as I said in the first post, my electric bill was creeping up last year and we went to the bank to query it, they printed me a statement which I took to kibtec, and from a 800 bill I owed 200, they said that there is overlaps in the meter reading dates the dates the bank pay etc. So this time when I noticed it creeping up again, I didn't do anything about it, thinking that Junes payment didn't go through yet. I was in the bank 8 days ago to add money to my accounts and asked if the bill payment account was ok, and the reply was yes.
On the statement yesterday, Jan Feb are missing then for March 11th 222.91 was paid, March 15th 69.42 was paid, April was nothing and in May 14 226.25 and May 16th 15.46 and for June nothing.
I was in the house all day so I was angry that the Kibtec meter reader didn't have the decency to knock on my door just to let me know that he was taking the fuse out, instead of leaving me sitting thinking I was having a power cut for hours on end.

Deniz I wont be using banks again either for bill payments.
