According to the report, on Wednesday the southside parliament decided to pay a four million euro downpayment to the Israelis, to buy two warships costing 100 million euros ... with 17 years to repay the loan ... that would seem to be a very generous length of time!
It's not clear from the report as to exactly when they will be handed over to our southside friends? Or which Israeli company has been commissioned to build them? Or if indeed they are being bought second-hand so to speak from the Israeli military.
In any case, these type of warships, with crews of 45, are currently being used by the Israelis to secure their coastline. And our southside friends would like the ships to do the same while they continue their search for hyrocarbons in the Mediterranean.
