some of you may have heard, but others may not, that the brave, courageous, lovely lady Bengu Shail, lost her fight with cancer today. You may recall that a search for a bone marrow donor was made a few months back, and although none was found here in Cyprus (north or South) or in London, a match was found from a man in the USA. Sadly, this proved to be no answer to Bengu, and after weeks of fighting , the hospital reached the point recently when it was decided nothing more oculd be done for her, and today she passed away.
As yet, I do not know of funeral, or whether the family want any money given to any charity to help others, but for those who may be interested, I will try to find out and post here.
Bengu, was an inpsiration to many and many fell in love with her even though they never met her. For me, she will forever stand out as a brave human who inspired others, and through her hopes of finding a donor who could save her life, encouraged many people to sign up on the Bone Marrow Register to help save the lives of others. By this, she achieved far more than many of us ever will. The thoughts, prayers and love of many kibkomers will i am sure be wished to the family who have lived with the hope that bengu would be restored to full health and life.
goodbye Bengu. Your life was short, but meaningful and inspiring. R.I.P.
