Kibkom North Cyprus Forum

Hi Soner, why each time I use Kibkom to post, update or reply am I getting silly messages asking me to fill-in silly characters on some sort of security sceen.
I have used same machine many times on Kibkom in the past but now I am inclined to stop using the forum as having to fill-in two sily words each time I access Kibkon is really getting to me.
My machine is clean and virus scanned every day, why, why, why the silly messages??????

I had one of those this morning, first time ever and as I was already logged in, I could not see any point in it. Maybe a little gremlin has crept into the system. Now I will see if it happens again when I post this.

And the answer is yes I did get it again.

I too have been trying to leave messages.Just tried 4 times to reply to an enquiry,typed in the code,only to be told site currently unavailable.

OK, this must have something to do with the protection. It could be that your internet connection is slower than usual and the "Hand Shake" between your computer and our server is not happening fast enough.
Anyway, I have added your IP addresses to the safe list of the protection application for all three of you. Hopefully this will resolve the problem. Do let me know if it happens again.

Just happened to me too. So now testing.

Seems to be working fine now. Could also possibly be that forum was under a major attack at the time of your posting.

Have tried posting a reply message today, and could only complete after filling in security question!

I to have been asked for security on at least three occasions , nothing to do with speed or security , I would feel you have a glitch from when you had problems last time , I personally can see no reason why you would have outside interference with this site , what would be the gain , not a competitive area .

A while back I was getting that too, to the point of distraction and a sense of 'I am giving up KibKom', but soner fixed it for me! Not easy, as he had severalgoes, but he fixed me. I hope he has fixed himself, and I am sure he can fix you.

As he explained it, it is an important protection and it seems to be over protective.

I feel sorry for Soner as he tries to make sure that the site cannot be attacked but the very act of protecting it seems to cause this glitch.

Chelwood, site is constantly under attack as is thousands of others, without the protection in place the site would certainly go down. I have seen these attacks in full force, trying to overload the Container to cause the site to fall, this is when some members are probably having problems with the connection to server in which case they are forced to identify that they are genuine by having to fill in the Captcha code.

Anyway, I have fixed so that you will not encounter this problem again.

Sometime ago I did get an e-mail from a "rival forum" (no names on this posting).Requesting me to return to them,as they "AIM TO BE THE BIGGEST FORUM ON THE ISLAND!!!"
That is why Soner is trying to protect his site,understandable,but I agree it is a pain sometimes.

wonder what site that was? never mind, let us all be loved on here for what we are and what the forum is! and remember small is beautiful, although I think we are still ranking up the top there with a good set of members. But that is not what counts. What matters here are other things such as friendliness, helpfullness, healthy debate and high standards.As to security it has cost soner quite a few ;'bob' to ensure this is kept going. i know it can be said 'No pain, no gain' but I am sure that Soner and all of us would rather NOT have the pain.

You can have 20,000 or 1 Million members whether real or spam members that register but may not use the forum. The only true way of telling if a forum is "successful" boils down to the amount of regular threads and posts being created by different members. How one can "AIM TO BE THE BIGGEST FORUM ON THE ISLAND" would means nothing to me, the "proof has to be in the pudding". I have no interest and do not interfere with other forums in the TRNC... So good luck to those that have these high aims - it's good to be positive, but you will need to work hard for it, just like everything else in life. I personally would not dream of trying to poach members from another forums, that's not hard work, lol.

Owl Lady, you have done nothing wrong. Are you using the same computer at home or a laptop using internet service provided by café etc..? As I have already added your IP to a Safe List.
