How early can one renew their residence permit?

My husband's residence permit will expire in October but he will be traveling just before this so we want to apply for a renewal earlier. Is this possible and if so how early can we apply?
Also can I confirm what is needed by those seasoned permit holders:
- muhtar letters
- bank statements
- marriage certificate
- blood work
- rental contract
From what I gather from the other posts we can take all of this directly to Lefkosa ourselves.
Any advise or info would be much appreciated ... I hate this part of living overseas!

I understand it is 30 days prior to expiry however you could perhaps ask at the police station if you could do it earlier. Your list of docs is correct but don't forget copies of your passport photo page and last year's visa stamp. You will need 2TL stamps for your muhtar letters (if not provided) and 9TL stamp for immigration. You can go directly to Lefkosa if you are over 60 years old in which case you do not need blood tests. If you are under 60 you still need to go to the police station first.

ah thank you JJ.,
I was just about to post and ask what changes there were, as we didn't have to do it last year.
So, if you're over 60, go straight to Lefcosia?????
that should be a bit easier this year then.
Do you know their opening times please?

There is also a form to be filled in and I know you can get it from the Police Station but perhaps someone else can confirm you can get same form from the Immigration in Lefkosia too?

we're in a strange situation where the residence permit is expiring but the blood test is still valid for another 6 months. My husband is not over 60 but we were hoping we could take the appropriate papers directly to Lefkosa for a 6 month extension. I don't think the Girne police would understand that. What are our chances of being able to do this directly in Lefkosa?

Don't understand what you mean about blood test still being valid?? In any case, the blood test is only one part of the application process so if you are under 60 you will still need to go to the police.

thank you all. Arrived about 11o'clock yesterday morning, all done and finished just after 12.
I was a bit shocked at how much it had gone up though, 455tl each !!!!!, mind you, that is for two years each.
Stella, the form is in both languages, but we filled it in there and then. It isn't very intense,it's virtually the same as
the muhtars form.

Flowerfairy, do you still need to take of proof of where you live, (other than the pink book) if you're still in the same place?

Stella, the Muhtar's letter proves where you live.I took my pink book also, but they didn't ask to see it.
I have moved house since my last visitors stamp, but no one quieried it.
