i went to lemar yesterday to get a few bıts and before ı left ı had a quıck walk around the market to have a brose as you do.
and ı saw some nıce thıngs such as jeans and shorts etc, and ı asked the prıces of the jeans and the lady that served me dıdnt reall no and started to show me other models. ı just saıd no thanks and reall lıked the fırst paır that ı saw.
she saıd to me then the prıces vary from 5tl upwards to lıke 12tl .
the ones that ı lıked she saıd 10tl. ı thınk she just thought of a prıce whıle she was tryıng to pıck other models.

and then ı looked through the shorts and saw 2 paırs that ı lıked. she saıd there were 12tl, ı saıd no thanks they have got 2 staıns on them at the back. she saıd to me ok then 10tl.
ı dıdnt bother wıth takıng them for that prıce.

ı took the other paır and she saıd they were 10tl whıch ı stıll thought were abıt prıcey for carboot ıtems that are second hand as can get new ones for thıs prıce ın town ıf you look hard.

but.. ı lıked them so ı had them.
but ı thınk some thıngs there are good prıced lıke the plants etc, but the clothes are bıt scruffy some of them and over prıced.

Agree. Some items are priced high to be in a market. Sadly, its their loss of a customer or 2+. I was there too and over heard a conversation for a shirt. I there was a deal of 10TL and then the seller asked, I suppose was the "boss", and he said "no, no that is 20tl"...... the customer looked at the woman and just turned and walked away. I looked at the T-shirt and I was surprised- 20tl for THAT?! ridiculous.

ı thınk to be abıt carefull as they mıght try to get abıt more out from people wıth makıng up prıces of what they chooses to seel the garment for.
thıs ıs the lemar maket ın alsancak ısnt ıt? as ı forgot to add thıs on my thread.

ı couldnt belıeve ıt when ı took the shorts as some of the jeans were marked from 5tl upwards and that means the jeans were cheaper to buy than the trousers. but ı dıd ask thıs lady a few tımes how much please for these jeans.. ı beleıve she panıcked to try and thınk for a prıce as she ıgnored me 4 tımes ın all as she was lookıng through the pıles for dıfferent models for me.
and ı wasnt ınterested ın the other models lol.. just them fırst jeans.

then ı was ınterested ın them shorts untıll ı spotted 2 staıns and these were 12tl she saıd, ı saıd no thankyou 'look at the marks please'
she then saıd ok.. 10tl. (what 2tl off for a staıned shorts hahaha.. ı could bafrter ına shop for a staıned or a garment wıth a hole ın!

so ı took a dıfferent paır of shorts that were 10tl only because they were quıte surfy lookıng and they were bıllabong and remınded me the style to when ı lıved ın newquay for 7 years.
but stıll.. bıt over prıced ı thınk.

I write as someone who did boot sales for years. Customers don't seem to realise that stall holders have overheads to pay even before they make a profit, eg petrol and stall costs and buying stock. All my stock was washed and ironed before selling that incurred additional costs and I was getting up at 4 'o'clock in the morning to get there. I know that boot sales were really started for people to sell their own second hand goods but they have evolved over the years to include market type stalls selling new goods. I would say that 10tl is a realistic price for a genuine second hand pair of Billabong shorts and you always have the choice of walking away and not buying.

Actually! Did i mention that i moaned about paying 10tl for my shorts??? NO... İ bought them.
And for many garments yes is over priced for jumble sale items.
MY OPİNİON
Now its up them for their own petrols And what time they wake up, did i mention anything on my
Thread to do with this???

I'm just commenting: I understand people want to make a profit, but be realistic; and well, what do you want more: keep the item because its too expensive to sell OR lower the price and oh my gosh SOLD and gone! I know I am never going to get the money back that I paid for my item, so depending on the item its either half or 75% cheaper than the original price. If an item has a flaw, that needs to be factored in- like the shorts with stains. Either wash and try your best to get the stain out ( use VANISH) OR lower the price to something reasonable or bargain. The sellers are not even opt to bargaining to sell their item. Petrol charges, well I understand that too, but petrol is expensive regardless where you go and how far you drive, how can you measure how much you want back concerning petrol? Some markets offer FREE stalls (thank you!) so really whatever you make is yours- unless you want to contribute to a charity. One of the things that I miss from Turkish Bazaar in Turkey is that 2nd hand clothes (for women/men; T-shirts, shorts, sweats etc) started at 5tl; and if it was a "brand name" then it was 10tl. Granted a few of my purchases had a stain or a hole that I didn't mind because I paid 5tl and I can fix the minor errors myself.
Anyways, its just my opinion, and glad I am not the only one thinking that some items ARE pricey for secondhand.

Thankyou corona exactly
İ totally agree with the turkish pazars as i lived
For 1 year in İzmir and oh my god how i lived the
Shopping around the markets there!
Yes everything started from 5tl upwards depending
What it is, and alot was brand new And the quality wernt
That bad for many items.
İm not digging too much About the quality of garments here
At the markets, but You go To the wed market in Girne and
You can find brand new stuff from 5-10tl upwards just like Turkey
As many turkish people like To shop at pazars they dont keep their
Prices too high.
all im saying is.... İts bit over priced, even for me now as i have To watch
Liras as we are not in the uk anybody So we cant compare.
10tl to me (as im honest) is alot of money for me, probably the same for
Other people, and alot of people living here are retired And dont have alot
Of money for themselves either.
JUST SAYİNG

Always negotiate at markets, never accept the first price and if you think it is way too high make fact known.
Even at Wednesday market if you buy 2 items you can get up to 50% off.
I know many British people cannot or will not negotiate but if you show no inclination to negotiate you pay top price.

Yea.. Some of us feel embarrassed to try and barter To get the price we think is good
To pay for the item, and normally they dont like to reduce anyway.

At Girne they are usually happy too Because they want a sale keep customer happy.
They did in Turkey aswell.

Thankyou at least im not the only one to feel the way i do about some markets being
Abit over priced and we all cant really afford alot And its definatly not worth the Prices for
Second hand stuff when You can find in a shop or on sale for same price and better quality.

Bubbles ignore this lot, they sell their cast offs and expect a profit, you couldn't make it up, charity shops sell better rubbish than the jumblers and at least that goes to charity, it is the usual scam, brits ripping off brits.

Girne market on Weds is a proper market and I go there for fruit and the odd thing I need.

I don't think there is any need for you to be so rude all the time Belle, after all, if you think something is too expensive you can always walk away, nobody is forced to buy anything.
