Help needed with pre paid water meter

We had a new pre pay water meter installed yesterday and topped up the card with 150 tl. We were told it included the extras such as lighting etc. We tried to activate the card today using the instructions given by the belediye( not the same as pictured on the card) We are not sure what all the different numbers and words that showed on it mean. We pressed the button and 56 tl showed. Then we pressed again and HATA(mistake?) showed, then again ABONE(subscriber?) Then a row of zeros. Does anyone know how we check a) how much credit we put on b) how much water we use c) what do the other numbers etc mean? Thank you

Had the water meter since they first started introducing them a couple of years ago.

When they were first introduced foreigners had to top with a minimum of 10 tonnes of water at a time this has now been increased this year to a minimum of 15 tonnes of water locals can top up with any amount.

When you pay for top up you have all your local services broken down on your receipt so if you have been away for 6 months or more you may have a bill of a 150 tl or more, god help you if you only come out once a year now and may be a couple of years before you need too top up having bought 15 tonnes of water.

The card is put in the slot on your water meter and the yellow button is pushed you will hear a beep and the meter will show a series of messages as described by you, the bad news is if your water meter is like mine the card is only designed to take a maximum download of 5 tonnes of credit off your card so having bought your 15 tonnes you are now left with a card with 10 tonnes on it which you can then put another 2 x 5 tonnes on meter but only when your credit runs out each time, keep an eye on your number dial.

Also remember your meter is set with a 1 tonne emergency so when you put your card in slot you will see the dial grab back that tonne

Thank you karakumc5. You explained it very well. I think I understand now. We live here full time but my husband decided to top up with 150 tl which gives us 62 tons. On the receipt it says 15 tons is 33 tl and 47 tons is 94 tl. On the meter reading it says we used 0.4 tons costing 1 tl. Remaining is 57 tl. It doesnt show how much was downloaded from the card. The numbers dont seem correct. Any way I am going to ask the belediye tomorrow how much we can put on the meter from the card. Thanks again for your help
