Laptop stressing me out, can anyone help

I have just bought a new laptop and it has this Mc Affee anti virus built into it, which obviously you need to pay for. But a friend of mine said don't use that download the free windows anti virus, which i did, so my computer is working fine with this free anti virus, but this Mc Affee anti virus is driving my nuts popping up every five minutes, so i then click it away but it's seriously twisting my melon. Anyone no how i can get rid of it for good.

You need to go to the settings and deactivate the Mc Affee so that only one anti virus is running at a time or it can cause problems with other things too.

If you are using windows 7

From 'start' in bottom left hand corner select -> control panel -> programs -> programs and features

this should list all the installed programs on you machine. In the list find Mc Affee, left click it to select it and at the top there should be an option to uninstall. Click that and if all goes well it should remove McAfee entirely from your machine. You may need to reboot to complete the uninstall
