Ithing that your freind needs a reality check,our bill for last month was 135tl includingdownstairs fan and overhead fan all night,no pool.I think your bills can be as large as you want to let get but 8tl is closer to the mark

I agree 80tl sounds a lot to me,although there are two sorts of cooler-one just does cold water and the other does hot and cold.
I would think that the hot and cold variety use more electric.
I find the hot water from mine is plenty hot enough for tea and coffee,otherwise i would be boiling kettles which I think use a fair bit of electric
Some also have a fridge in them.
I have a simple plug in timer on mine so that it switches off at night.

We have a water cooler with hot and cold and it has on/off buttons at the back.

We don't drink shed loads of hot tea/coffee so we always leave the hot switched off as I think that constantly leaving it on means the water always has to be kept hot, so I would imagine it uses more electric than boiling a kettle once in a while.

Leaving the hot switched off you still get cold (but not cooled) water through the hot tap and we use this to fill the kettle rather than using the cooled water which would sort of defeat the object in the reverse!! Using a kettle is still economical as long as you only boil enough for however many cups you need and don't overfill it.

I don't think water coolers cost that much to run at all. Ok, I'm sure the cheapest option overall is just to store water and keep it cool in the fridge but for convenience a water cooler is great.

When we bought our cooler there wasn't a choice, they were all HandC, but have never ever switched the H on. However, I do know that since we stopped using an electric kettle and now only use gas, we have saved over 40tl a month, every month.
