Dyson V6 For Spares or Repair - Now Gone!

I have a Dyson V6 FREE for spare or repair. The problem with it is that the battery is no longer accepting a charge. Earlier this year I replaced the old battery and it worked for a couple of weeks then just stopped charging. I have tested the charger and that is working fine, I have even used a different charger but still the battery is not charging. I think that having bought a replacement battery - not an original - that it is the battery that has failed.

The rest of the unit and all it's clip on accessories are all in good working order, although it is an old and well used model it was fine till the battery change.

PM me if you can make use of it for any purpose whatsoever - original batteries are available on eBay - don't buy a non-original one!!!

If you haven't tried this might be worth a go
Check to see if the unit will hold a charge without attachments on it. If it does... the problem is the attachment is clogged.
Don't ask me why it would not charge with a clogged attachment, but so is the case.
I'm leaving now to go find myself....if I arrive before I get back, please ask me to wait!

To reset your Dyson battery, you’ll have to:

Unplug the charger from the wall.
Plug the charger back in again.
Connect the charger to the Dyson vacuum.
Pull the trigger and hold for 20 seconds, even though the vacuum doesn’t turn on.
Let go of the trigger. Remove the charger from the vacuum and continue using it like normal.
This combination of steps will reset the battery and get your Dyson vacuum running normally again.

Thanks TAC, have tried all of the “fixes” but none of them work! Nothing wrong with the charger or it’s connecting lead, tested with my meter and power is there so it’s not that! When I replaced the old battery with the new one it worked for a few weeks then just stopped charging altogether! Guess it’s because I bought a cheap Chinese knock off battery and should have spent the extra £10 on a genuine one.

Wife was happy in the end as I ended up buying the Dyson 10 to replace her Dyson 8 which I then “inherited” to replace my Dyson 6! Still think that a new “Genuine” battery would solve the whole problem at around £20 off eBay. The V6 was real handy for all sorts of things and car cleaning as well.

Still available!

Having looked on eBay just it might be better to spend less than £20 and buy a complete working one - lol!

Sorry, the only head I have is the brush one. I can't remember a soft roll one either although the other two I have both have them - essential for dog hair - the other bits are the small brush thing and the long thin spout thing. But if any parts useful to you then you can have them, maybe just as spares???

Not got that bit, ours is the brush one but if you are looking for the wheels that sit in the bottom then I understand they are a universal fit and the ones on ours are not in bad nick at all. You are welcome to the whole thing if you want, it's that or the bin I am afraid as nobody else wants to play with old kit these day - easier to buy a new one I guess but I just love making something out of nothing (no matter the cost) must be the Yorkshire in me - lol.

If you need parts or enjoy tinkering with gadgets, I have a Dyson V6 up for grabs, perfect for spares or repair! The main issue lies with the battery—unfortunately, it’s no longer accepting a charge. I swapped out the old battery earlier this year, but the replacement only lasted a couple of weeks before it stopped charging again. The charger itself is in good shape, and I even tested it with a different one to be sure. My hunch is that the non-original replacement battery I purchased is the culprit. The vacuum unit and all its clip-on accessories are still in good working order, despite its age and usage. If you can make use of it, don’t hesitate to reach out! Just a tip—stick with the original batteries if you’re looking for a replacement. You can find them on eBay—avoid the hassle of non-original ones! PM me if interested.
