Three serious-looking road accidents in Lefkoşa yesterday :(

On the news web-site http://www.gundemkibris.com/ there are three different reports on three different car accidents in and around Lefkoşa

Accident 1 : Happened at 8.20 pm at Haspolat on the Lefkoşa-Mağusa road; a male driver in avoiding a dog, lost control and the car ended up on the other side of road.
Accident 2 : Happened at 9.30 pm at the traffic lights in front of the Atatürk Sports Hall, a young male driver lost control, and the car ended up on the other side of the road upside down.
Accident 3 : Happend in Gönyeli at about 11am. Despite there being stop signs, the male driver failed to stop at junction.

Fortunately, although they all looked serious, in none of the accidents was anyone badly injured ...

I don't know where these Turks or TC's get their licences from. They must get them out of a lucky dip bag. The standard of driving here is awful. I hope they put into practive what they say in Cyprus Today to make it more difficult to obtain a licence

The number of "write offs" of vehicles here with no other traffic in the vicinity is astonishing and, it is even worse when traffic as well as road conditions have to be negotiated. It illustrates just how much there is a need to drive here at all times with total vigilance, plus (hopefully) a large slice of luck !

Was it Cyprus Today, or were you referring to thefront page of Cyprus Star? Whatever, I think much is due to the huge increase of traffic and maybe not high enough standards for learner drivers. I am sure it will change, but not overnight.

So long as the 'right' people can buy a driving license, especially for their children, there will be problems on the TRNC roads.
Only one reason for bad driving, I know, but significant.
