Facebook page?
I'm beginning to realise and appreciate just how useful Facebook can be in keeping abreast and in touch. Is there a reason that a North Cyprus expats or similar page has not been created? I suspect the loss of anonymity and or fear of persecution may have something to do with it. Would that be correct?

Yes I find Facebook useful for a lot of things too.
There is a TRNC friends page on Facebook.

Karisyaka Turtle Watch is on Facebook too. See 'Spartacus' the recently rescued stranded Green Turtle rescued from our beach & follow his progress at the Veterinary Hospital in Lefkosa.

Re: Facebook page?
I have always resisted the pressure from all and sundry (mostly family) to have a Facebook page. They always seem so narcissistic - why should anyone (least of all family), want to know if someone went to the hairdressers yesterday or the dentist the day before) I also think its very sad when people have said to me that Facebook is the only way they can see what their Children or Grand Children are doing back in the UK etc. How sad is that? Don't these people communicate with each other. I can see some of the benefits for an organisation having a page, but then what's the difficulty in going on to a web page or Email?

Sophie its better to do a video call to family in the U K , its great to see them . Its better than a phone call or email and its free . I do talk to family by phone but I would rather see who I am talking to

Really?....................it was an amusing link that takes anyone clicking on it to their own facebook page!
No security breach - certainly no insult! Just a momentary shock to the clicker who then realises they are part of a jolly prank.
Have a rethink and PM me if necessary (hedge-fund the innocent!)

I agree totally Carolhm, do it all the time. Problem is when daughter calls, I switch on and realise I am not looking my best, to put it mildly and would rather not be "public".

Re: Facebook page?
That was the only reason for me joining face book , had a job convincing my mum to do the same . Then she was over here with us the other year and saw me talking to my daughter and grand children . That's it she joined and we video called each other nearly every day , she loved it and loved the idea it was free
Re: Facebook page?
Sophie whilst I can understand your viewpoint, I have to say that I think you are really missing out. I gain far more by having a facebook page and it's great to hear/keep in touch with friends old and new and of course family that you may not hear from on a regular basis. As for children and grandchildren, it seems to me that their idea of communicating and socialising is not by using a phone to actually speak to someone! Sad as that may be, it's the way of the young.

I'll stick to Skype and my webcam and wifi.Taking Kindle and phone and walking around house and showing family views from terraces etc. Plus dogs playing in the garden.

Re: Facebook page?
I am an old fuddy-duddy who never found the notion of facebook interesting at all "well for me in particular", though my two girls and my mrs found it very yeepeee-yeee fantastic catchy newsy "yataaatee yattataaaa", as if the mobile texting, whatsapp, viber, tango etc., etc., are not enough.
I sometimes despair and wish they get a life "those women in my household"...
I hope kibkom stays available for the people like me who like it straightforward web page "no complication", no hassle and no fuss.
kibkom has no interruption, no advert invasion, well structured and straight to the point... that's why I like it.
Sorry guys I say no.... keep kibkom away from facebook.
