Coming home hurray

After a seven week trip back to UK I cannot wait to get home to trnc. Each time I come here to see family I have something wrong with me, this year 3 weeks in bed with a dreadful virus which is doing the rounds, well rushing round in South wales. The news here is dismal especially now heading for an election. The politians are getting worse, I had always been politically minded but the "mud slinging" is dreadful. So to the Karsiyaka politicians in coffee shop, I am coming home Monday and cannot wait. Longer I am away realise what a special place we live in.

And we are just the opposite after nearly 8yrs in the TRNC are back in the UK and so bloody pleased.

Must admit we are not 100% happy living in the TRNC all of the time so our next plan we have decided to spend 6 months in the UK and six months here.
This gives us the best of both worlds so to speak. Having said that we have noticed things are improving steadily here for the better.

Been here full time for 13 years and never been back to UK and hope I never have to. This is my home warts and all.

Love the place (trnc) and all its foibles cant wait till I can live there full time, going back to the Uk every now and again to gloat.

I too love it here, I got lambasted once for saying things are improving and more and more people seem to be in agreement with that. K5 seem to be making headway, someone told me they got PTP in 3-4 months, water should be here soon. So we have the odd power cut and sometimes it drops down to 4 degrees for a brief time but looking at what they are getting in the UK with snow and London hitting -9 I know where I would rather be!

I think the key to life here is not being someone whose glass is perpetually half empty and to avoid those that are.

Fed up as being taken for cash cows, living in a third world environment, terrible health care unless you have a inexhaustible bank balance, being ripped off by the muhtar who charged you for just about everything, no water in the summer flooding in the winter.
The sad part is we are leaving some wonderful friends.

I think I will disagree true friends are there for life through thick and thin, you can use and abuse them as they can you but you still remain friends, as for my sanity I have been told I lost that when buying a home in the TRNC. But I will predict that some of you forever TRNC people will return. Ho yes you will Just had to come back at you and ask how you can be so fickle as to say friends are replaceable hangers on yes but true friends no !!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with you Jonnie. Friends are friends whether UK Or TRNC and I have both. After being here 29 years still in touch with UK friends. The politically correct stuff has now taken over UK in a big way. Slip of tongue and you are in serious trouble. I suppose I am used to power cuts as they were sometimes 8/12 hours every day years ago, water its gold so precious and now learnt how to use it. Happy Monday!!!!! When I step from the plane. X x

Cheers Jonnie and Deniz1 I am with you 100% If I am lucky my glass is always full!!(only joking, not joined AA yet! ) I have lived here 10 years,2 short visits back to the UK was enough for ever! Couldn't hack the weather for a start, or the political correctness. Would drive me insane! Those who know me, would realise that it wouldn't take long!

Home is where your heart is! Welcome home! Having travelled around and lived in lots of places I can truly say that the grass is always greener on the other side - I can also confirm that no matter which side the grass is on, it always dies and then there is always another side to view with greener grass. The trick is to find the spot where your grass stays green longer than any other spot - then stay there. My grass here is nearly always green but for sure it is greener here for me than anywhere else I have been or want to stay. This is a country of contrasts that change on a minute by minute basis, good air, good sky, good people, good life. Like the man said, you can't please all of the people all of the time - but I am pleased 98% of the time and that is good enough for me.
