air con problem
Air con heater packed up cold OK has anyone experienced this problem if so any advice would be appreciated

Sounds like a heat sensor failure to me, or if the compressor isn't running a capacitor failure.
The heat sensor tends to control most of the functions and operations, certainly on the majority of the cheaper Chinese imported versions.
Lost refrigerant is rare, if so you need to find the leak before refilling or it's a waste of time.
