Turkish Airlines summer prices
My family were looking to fly THY to Ercan in July and the prices are outrageous. They would have had to pay more than £700 each return.
They have had to book flights to the south with a saving of £400 PER PERSON
I hope nobody pays those crazy prices

Re: Turkish Airlines summer prices
where are you flying to and from?
I have just checked TA flights for 2 weeks in July from Edinburgh return to Ercan and they are sitting at around £268 all in.
That will probably be even cheaper if you use Skyscanner.
Cheers

yes but if you continue, those prices are for a 15 hour journey with 2 changes. If you select only one change it £700 +

Re: Turkish Airlines summer prices
See what you mean .
At Christmas the prices for January were £221 then when the wife said yes to us going they had gone upto £280
The next morning when I was about to book they dropped to £240
Apparently TA release tickets in batches starting off cheap and getting dearer
BHX flights are upto 2 a day from end of March

Re: Turkish Airlines summer prices
I raised this subject at the beginning of January, why is it so costly as the same flight at the same time last year was £300.All those experts came on and told me they were cheaper, thats providing you want to travel for 17 hours to get here. There is no reason for Turkish to raise their prices to this extreme.

Re: Turkish Airlines summer prices
I think Turkish Airlines are losing the plot. We regularly fly to UK and back, and use whichever airline offers the best deal. It is not often TA, and my latest experience confirms my suspicions, they are rip off artists. We had booked tickets to go back to UK in July and bring our daughter back here with us for a holiday. Then thought be a good idea to stop over in Istanbul for a few days rather than come straight back....simple you might think....NO! Went to the office in Lefkosa, and they wanted 377tl just to alter daughter's flight, so she didn't lose the return leg.....then 240tl each from us to alter flight to Ercan to 3 days later........hmmmmm, no I think not rip off artists......so, we are now all coming back here and then using Pegasus to have a short break in istanbul. Cannot believe it, but it was cheaper to do it that way. Will only us TA now if I have to. And, despite numerous requests, after 5 years, we still only have temporary paper Miles and Smiles things......

Re: Turkish Airlines summer prices
I am sure TA like most airlines have some very high tech software which will monitor sales and dates....prices will be adjusted accordingly up or down. As demand goes up, so will the price. If they are not selling, price may drop.
All about supply and demand.
Whilst not everyone can plan a long way in advance we have found that in general the earlier you book the less the cost. Even if prices come down after we have booked (Not often) we are not that concerned as the price we paid would we still considered reasonable.

Re: Turkish Airlines summer prices
We recently looked at all options for family members (flying from any London airport) and eventually booked for June from Gatwick with Turkish Airlines, 10 days £395 for 2 people! Which we thought was a good price?
No massive stopovers in Istanbul either.

Re: Turkish Airlines summer prices
Who knows how TA software is set up to manage flight sales.....as Turkey is a moslem country perhaps the christmas factor is not included in their software? Maybe or maybe not.
For us we book at 8 - 12 months in advance....usually just as flights become available. This year we are using combinations of BA, Easyjet and Aegean Air via Larnaca and TA from Ercan.
Have also looked at Norwegian Air who are pretty good and also Monarch.
