Re: A Ghost of a Chance?
Would you. Please say what this is about. Just to give a link with no explanation is a little unnerving. Thanks.

I get a shot of the TRNC flags on the mountainside, then the ruddy thing keeps demanding my email address.

Very informative and interesting piece of writing, only suitable for the ones who are open minded and read in between the lines.
personally, I recommend reading it, and think carefully of the content and the message it attempts to convey.

I totally agree with Marion. Links without an indication of the subject or the source of the link can be dangerous, not to mention time wasting. Personally I treat them like unidentified email and dont open them.
Please could someone give an indication of the subject and if an email adddress is required to open it, an indication that the originator is safe.

I agree with RR. All I get is pictures of the two flags and then suddenly an advert for eating bacon and eggs for breakfast. I suspect I have downloaded a malworm of something and am not happy about it. Why can't people be more explicit about the content of their thread.?

This website is about an alternative way of looking at news, it's a Digital Magazine, which can be seen on Facebook..just type in Ozy
With regard to TRNC that is mentioned on the opening page on the original website, it's making a statement that "some countries strive for independence and international recognition for years, but never receive it" citing the TRNC as an example as well a many others.
Read more about http://www.ozy.com
Ragged Robin and Sophie, when the advert comes up you are given the option at the bottom to click on the "No Thanks" and you are then taken to the article and the advert does not show anymore

Re: A Ghost of a Chance?
Exactly why I asked. As a moderator on here, I would hate to thin k that anyone picked up something 'nasty' because there wa sno indication of what the subject was or what the link was. Far better to copy and paste on here so that people can read it without having to go to another web page and risking possible prob lems. My c uriosity has nOT got the better of me and I have not clicke d on the link. Better safe than sorry.
So please KibKomers, either copy and paste or give a full explanation before giving the link. Thanks.

Re: A Ghost of a Chance?
The 1933 Montevideo Convention, article 11, specifically excludes recognition of States created by the use of armed force.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montevideo_Convention
The UN Charter also requires inhabitants of newly created States to be the legal owners of the land they occupy.
Unfortunately this would mean that unless agreement can be reached with the ROC the TRNC can never be recognised. The bottom line is Greek Cypriots want some territory returned in exchange for the creation of a separate entity in the north be it an independent State, federated or confederated.
The solution will have to be a trade-off. The current attitude of Turkey towards the south and its importation of mainlanders to Cyprus is a hinderance rather than a help towards a settlement of this long standing problem.

Marions my friend,
Perhaps I belong to the group "of the risk takers". Yet, I read your comment regarding the possibility of "virus infection", and understand where you're coming from.
The title held my attention and therefore I proceeded to copy the link and read the content in safe mode.
Some members may not have the facility and defence built within their computers, therefore they opt out "as precautionary measure". The result they are missing out .
People like myself who are interested in wide range of issues, this piece of writing is valuable, enhances and adds quality to the kibkom forum "spice up the forum".
Best regards
suitable for open-minded people

Re: A Ghost of a Chance?
Marion only asked that posters give an indication of the subject of links they posted. Not all of us have the time , money or even the inclination to deal with complicated computer technology.
In any case it is only good manners, even if the post does not contain a link, to give an indication of the subject matter. It is good for the forum that people have the freedom to discuss a wide range of matters, but it is not good if they give up because they are wasting time reading posts that are on a subject of no interest to them, because the title is inadequate or even misleading .

Marion and Ragged Robin are quite right IMO.
Barney may be of Greek origin by way of his take on Turkey.
Maybe it is best to close this post
