Yep, that will certainly impress Cyprus EU partners, the USA and the rest of NATO especially with the 'Cold War' starting up again. Is this a not so subtle warning to the EU to keep funding Cyprus come what may?

It is what the Russian will be bringing in and out that would worry you more .

They have tried sanctions and further unrest and blame in the Ukraine would suggest further sanctions going forward .
I would think friends they have south would quite happily supply them with anything they needed .

Russians appear to want to make waves and may be on purpose trying to upset USA ,EU ,Germany etc then try and hold people. To ransom on oil and gas etc ?

One things for sure don't go to the Susi bar when there in town

Russia has been trying to get a foothold in Cyprus for decades - now they have one for free!!! Typical of the RoC to roll over for the money, they still owe the 2.5 billion euros to Russia and if they think that a delayed payment solves their problems they are more stupid than the whole world thinks they are. Wonder when the SBA areas will receive their influx of extra troops for the next "exercise" or will the UK Government just do its normal thing and roll over and ignore it all because there is an election coming and nobody wants to make waves?

Ignore rumour - concentrate on the facts.

Poor Presidential performance but there will be no Russian military hardware on Cyprus.

Russia (along with most other nations) will be allowed to dock ships on proven anti piracy/terrorism efforts.

The President is desperately trying to increase his bargaining power with the West by flirting outrageously with the East - a bit like the Greek cousins are trying in their negotiations with the Eurogroup.

Childish and pathetic in the real world - but misleading reporting doesn't help either.

Fact - Russia has been trying to get a foothold in Cyprus for decades! Do you remember when they attempted to place SA6 missiles just North of Paphos?

Never bother much with rumor, like the bit of paper waved for the press and the words "Peace in our time" - it is what happened next that was fact.

As Russia is now increasing "Defense Spending" hugely this year it makes me wonder just where they will be putting all the extra manpower and equipment that they are intending to muster? Good picture of a ship on the BBC news but can anyone identify the flag?

Hey! Just think - Russian loans to the southern side, property agents in the north seem to be advertising in Russian as much as English - get plenty of Russians buying TRNC property - next step, like Ukraine, amalgamate Southern and Northern Cyprus into one (Russian) province - whole problem solved! Forget the Annan plan (or any other)

bert u dont follow why its a shame ??
russia is evil...they invade....look what they are doing to the ukraine and its poor people.....
cyprus is saying there is no proof that russia is involved in that...how stupid can they get???
while the whole world is upset with russia and its evil doings...the parasite that runs the country with his thing called a wife and whoever else goes to russia for no needed reason ...stays in luxury courtesy of the poor tax payer ..for what?
two evils become freinds!

Opposition out of the way!
Published on 27 Feb 2015

MOSCOW -- Boris Nemtsov, a charismatic Russian opposition leader and sharp critic of President Vladimir Putin, was gunned down Saturday near the Kremlin, just a day before a planned protest against the government.

I do no believe that the Russian people are evil as a whole - but - the Russian politicians are a different matter altogether. The Russian friends I have here have left Russia for a better life, that tells a story in itself. I see in the news this morning that the UK has woken up as well, then again it is election year!
