For those who may have missed the posting on the forum the RBL have issued a press release concerning their next very interesting meeting which concerns all ex pats especially those who may have little idea as to just what the BHC is for and what it does. No doubt Mrs Christina Smith will have some of the excellent leaflets the BHC has to give guidance of many aspects of ex pat living and how and in what circumstances they can actually help. Very few people have any clear insight to this, and many feel that everything is loaded against the north. Not so - go and hear for yourselves. As Major Brian Thomas shares;-

RBL KYRENIA BRANCH –
The RBL Kyrenia Branch is set to welcome the Vice Consul of the Consular Section at the British High Commission in Nicosia to their next Branch meeting. Mrs Christina smith is well known amongst the expat population of the TRNC and has kindly agreed to come and meet RBL members at the next branch meeting which is scheduled to take place at the North Shield pub, Chateau Lambousa in Lapta, from 7pm on Monday 23 March. The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes and will then be followed by a formal briefing by Christina on Consular activities. All members are encouraged to attend and show their support and it is also an opportunity for non-members to join the RBL at the same time.
The invitation follows on from a private visit of the High Commissioner to the old British cemetery in Girne last month, of which the branch is the custodian.
Outgoing branch secretary Squadron Leader Tony Mansell explained: “As a branch we are keen to support the Consular Section and the High Commissioner in our aim to provide the best possible support for our members and beneficiaries alike. In particular, to allow us to start building a mutually supportive team it would be great for the committee and members to get an overview of the range of Consular support available. We can then distil the best methodologies to work together and build that closer collaboration.”
