info. on Police checks please

I need to get yet another Police check done as the time has lapsed on my current one.

Has anyone applied for one in Uk recently, if so, what proceedure did you follow please?

try this www. uk.met.police.uk/information/request_forms.htm I did mine earlier this year but I cannot remember the form number. It costs £10 a friend received the from for me brought it over so I could fill it in and they took it back and posted it.It took about three weeks.

The form is 3019 if you live or have lived within the Metropolitan police area.

If not, you have to apply to the police in the area that you lived in prior to moving overseas.

Ah, thank you both. I've been trying to find info all evening, as I need to apply to the Chelmsford police, or did last time.
On one website, they've asked for my passport. I really do not fancy parting with that.

A photocopy of your passport is acceptable if certified by a notary or equivalent.

You can contact Essex police to clarify by email (datafoi@essex.pnn.police.uk) or contact them on 01245 452647 Monday to Friday 8am -4pm.

I sent a copy of my passport not notarised a copy of my uk driving license as extra I D also two copies of utility bills from trnc as proof of my address here and a uk cheque for £10. You can give an alternative postal address on the form if you want someone to bring it out here for you.
