Turkcell credit
Does anyone know how the units of credit work on a Turkcell phone.
I.e how many units for a text, how many per minutes of calls etc.
In fact how many units do you actually get for your top up.
I just top up as and when at the moment it runs out although it does seem to give me a few units over what I have left and I assume when I top up it then pays itself back?
Also I am now getting a message that says it's charging me each month is that correct even with pay as you go.
Not sure whether I should stay pay as you go now we are here permanently.

Re: Turkcell credit
Best confirm, but I am sure a contract phone is better and calls are slightly cheaper. Don't have to keep remembering to top up. Standing charge per month is about 3.50tl. Also different packages available for SMS, free minutes, International calls etc, etc. Worth asking in the office in Girne at the top of the High St.

500 units = 32.00 TL
Not sure but I think its 6 units per local text. Sorry no idea about calls.
If you text a lot, you can 'trade' 300 units for 10000 texts that last a month.
Also when your credit expires you are allowed to go into negative balance (100 units). These units are charged however at a higher rate, I think that's what the text message you received was referring to.

Re: Turkcell credit
Every month 14.62 credits are deducted 'due to the Electronic communication law'.
From 3rd March there is a charge of 9 units for Super Credit Service (negative balance up to 100 units) - to cancel the service text CANCEL to 4243.
Don't know if these charges just apply to prepay customers.

Re: Turkcell credit
It will depend on how much you use your phone, I only top up once a month but then I don't use my phone more than a couple of times a day.

When you top up with 500 credits (32.50tl) you also get 500 free credits that are valid for 7 days when you call another Turkcell number.

Re: Turkcell credit
If you don't use the phone is there a time limit before you lose the number? I have a friend's phone and she only visits Trnc once every 6 months. I have been using it occasionally but I seem to have to top it up every now and then despite there being loads of credit on it.

Re: Turkcell credit
On a turkcell payg you need to top up every three months to keep the phone active. if no top up after 6 months then you lose the number and all the credit
