Where to buy
I am after some advice for the following:-
1). Best place to buy microwave oven, not expensive
2). Best place to buy curtain rails or poles and not pay a fortune
3) best place to get curtains altered
I know of Mermaids but would prefer to not use them but somewhere local to Girne that you would recommend.
Thanks

Re: Where to buy
I've always used the Curtain Shop. Hussein is such a nice guy to deal with as well as being reliable. Why not give him a try.

It's on the main road going into Girne from Karag.... on left hand side, opposite Gloria Jeans (ish).

Re: Where to buy
When I was looking for a microwave, I went to the electric shop down by the ferry terminal. When you get down near to the gates, turn left over a piece of rough ground and he is in front of you, downstairs in an apartment block.
He is usually cheaper than anyone else. My microwave is 9 years old and has never been any trouble. Do however expect to pay more for it than in the UK.

Not local to Girne, but in Catalkoy is The Little Furniture Shop (next row of shops up from The Crispy Squid). The lady in there, Leyla is a fantastic help with items such as you have requested. I had all my old curtain poles replaced with new double rails, organised by her. If she can't do it, then she knows a man who can!
