Can anyone recommend where to purchase a lightning adaptor & HDMI cable for my iPad Air so I can connect to the tv please, or will any of the computer shops have them.
Thanks

Hi, it is not possible to buy an HDMI to Lightening adaptor here, even the lightening leads for charging sold here are not authorised Apple products and will either not work at all or sometimes for a short time only.
We had to buy genuine adaptor and leads from the UK. It may be possible to find a genuine Apple Store in the South but we had no luck.

There is a store in the Mall of Cyprus called "Public"

They sell Apple stuff.

Have you also thought about an Apple TV? You can "mirror" what is on your iPad without cables to the device.

I can stream NTV from my iPad through my Apple TV to any TV with an HDMI port anywhere in the world, with an Internet connection.

Apple TV works over wifi? I don't want to use my wifi to watch programmes & I don't have a smart TV here. I tend to download & watch at leisure, hence wanting the connection to TV. Hubby noticed Tektan had a selection of cables, so may take a look there when next in town & buy an original when back in UK.
As I already have an iPad Air, not wanting to buy a Kindle Tablet, but thanks anyway. ( we already have Kindle paper whites)

Butterflyaway: I have an Apple iPad air and Apple TV, and as stated on a pervious post can only stream to my TV videos and products purchased from Apple, not live TV.
Please can you post or PM me details on how you have streamed NTV on to TV, and would this same method also work with Film-on-TV.

Bought ours from Public in the Mall of Cyprus, as mentioned in an earlier post. Works brilliantly.

Hi dap2410,

If you open your browser in iPad either Safari, or now Google Chrome, then open http://www.ntv.mx. Type in your email address and password, then you will be able to watch NTV on your iPad.

Switch on your Apple TV, making sure that it is connected to the same network/router/modem as the iPad. If your settings do not allow AirPlay, then re set it to do so.

Then "scroll up" from the bottom of the iPad screen and you will see the icon for Air Play. Click it and then choose the option to Mirror to Apple TV.

Within a few seconds you will be seeing on your TV what is on the iPad. Once connected the iPad screen will soon go blank. If you want to switch channels etc, touch the iPad screen and do what is necessary.

Don't worry if the screen appears narrow, or too big, etc, When you maximise the NTV viewing screen, the screen on your TV should be correct.

Mirroring will be the same for Film On, web browsing, looking at emails, etc.

Good luck.

One would have to subscribe to NTV to mirror live TV this way would you not?
Would it not be better to buy an Android box of which there are several and use that for live TV?

Just by being an MM customer you get quite a few free NTV channels.

You are correct regarding Android boxes, but I was only answering the question by someone, like me who has an iPad and an Apple TV.

On another note, I am experimenting with an Android phone, together with a Google Chrome Cast.

With these I should be able to "minimise" my boxes from an iPad to a mobile phone, and an Apple TV to a device no bigger than a dongle. With that I can watch anything on NTV, Filmon, any of the UK iPlayers, or anything on Mobdro, which includes Sky Sports channels for free.

Please let me know how you get on with your experimenting. We have a samsung smart tv and a Mag box for NTV, but have so many controllers. Also our computers are Apple macbook and iPad and are in the same situation, so are looking similarly to cut out one or more of these controllers or boxes. We can of course use the smart TV for NTV as well.
