Oh dear this isn't going to go down well then.Just got back from there where the food was poor, all the dishes came out warm without any of the little heaters that keeps your food bubbling,we all had chicken dishes and the meat was thighs not breast. It was ok in my meal as I had it spicey but two others had mild dishes and the taste was of the strong chicken not the suace,we pointed out that we didn't like thigh meat in the curry but we were assured it was breast meat.I cook a lot with thighs so I know the difference between the light and dark meat. Then to cap it off we were over charged by 20% including being charged for coffee and brandy which we were told was on the house. All in all a shame as it's not the same ol same ol as other restuarants as he has a lot of different dishes on the menu,i think i'll wait a couple of months before trying again(if it's still open)

Four of us went last night and all had different food. Absolutely fabulous food and fantastic service. The best Indian food we have had for a long time. I had Karachi prawn dish medium to hot and was exactly as I asked for it. With regards to burners I have not had an Indian dish here that has been served on burners only the Chinese House. The dishes were hot so kept the food hot. Service was welcoming and attentive. The staff are also open to constructive remarks so may be you should give them another chance. The tablecloths were immaculate which has not always been the case at other Indian restaurants. This will be our regular from now on most definitely.

Kamares serve all their meals over burners including the rice! IMO the best Indian food around!

Having no burners does it mean food taste different.is this the standard to judge the flavour and the quality of the food.

Being the original poster of this thread,I would like to say.THe food we had was excellent, was hot & spiced to our liking! Sometimes I agree, depending on how many main & side dishes are ordered,it is quite nice to have warmers. However, being that we had mains with rice there was little need for these. As for the comment to heaven about where he (she) eats curries irrelevant! Clearly they enjoyed what was chosen by them at Masala!Happyvalley, agree totally with your post. If some food is too heat hot,I find it spoils the flavour.Having lived here for almost four years we have tried pretty much all of the "Indian" restaurants. Usually been very, very good with the exception of a couple of sit downs & one particular take out. Herself ordered Lamb curry, this it certainly was not! Would guarantee it was goat! Everyone has separate opinions & has the right to voice them. As this is about Masala, I will say again. The food we had was delicious!!! .

I just object to being served poor quality food and then being over charged for that food by 20%

Well tried Masala last week, very, very, ordinary all dishes seem to taste the same, quite mushy, never get a proper bill its all written in a big book ( same as Courtyard) we were overcharged for drinks until I queried the amount.
Masala, Punjab, in my opinion are very basic ordinary curries mostly thigh meat.
Without doubt the best true Indian experience is Kamares, extensive menu Beef, fish, Prawn , Lamb is always very tender, the Fish Curry is superb.
I have no association with Kamares, have been going since they opened and never been dissapointed.
There is a vast difference between true Indian & Pakistani type curry meals.
It really boils down to what you think is a good curry.
