We are moving from Turkey to Alsancak in a week. Can anyone offer advice on the customs regulations for our personal items, regarding taxes or restrictions, we are not bringing furniture and we intend to use a parcel courier.
We need to buy furniture, where are the best places to shop, also any advice on where to shop for white goods and TV. Anyone with second hand furniture for sale please let us know, we will be there from 14 April.
Also any advice for TV and Internet, there seems to be a lot of choice but reliability is as important as price.
Many Thanks John & Jane

Hector

Welcome to North Cyprus. I wish you both well.
I'm not up to date on customs stuff but when we imported household goods 10 years ago, you can do so once tax free. If you are married they will stamp both your passports to that effect, stopping you importing your household stuff more than once tax free.
This forum as well as Facebook are good for second hand goods. You can also look at the auctions: Ian's Auctions, Chateau Lambousa and the new one at Sunset Beach mentioned on this forum. As for internet, have a look at Multimax which is also frequently mentioned on this forum. Hope that helps for starters.

You will be charged duty on anything that is brand new and on electrical goods and televisions no matter how old they are.

My son was charged 150tl on a television that was 4 years old when he arrived last November.

Make a list in both English and Turkish of everything you are bringing. This is a big help at customs and stops any delays.

If it was me doing this, and from personal experiences in the past, I would Google 'Olaytrans cyprus' and gte in touch with them, They can advise what you actually need to do, not what people have done in the past. They can arrange translation of any customs documents, and will walk you through the system.

That said, it sounds like you may not be bringing much, so the advise on paperwork from them may be enough.
The wife keeps complaining I never listen to a word she says ............. or something like that.

Advice is one thing, but beware, they lost all my goods.

But no doubt you already have arrangements in hand.
