We've still not tried this vegetable, any suggestions for the tastiest way to cook it?

I cut them into chips, par boil them (To get rid of the sticky goo that comes out of them),then dry them off then coat in oil and curry powder(or any spice mix of your choice) and then bake them on a tray like oven chips.

IMO it is the most tasteless lump of vegetable I have ever tasted and is best used as cattle food!

This is Kolakas in Tahini sauce

1 kg of Kolakas
1 cup of chickpeas, tinned is fine
1 cup of tahini - sesame paste
1/3 cup of water
2 large onions, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, crushed
The juice of 3 lemons
2-3 tablespoons of Olive Oil
½ teaspoon of salt

Preparation and cooking takes about 15 minutes:

Cut the Kolakas into cubes, stir fry them for few minutes until golden and set aside
Stir fry the onions and garlic in olive oil until golden in color, then add the chickpeas and cook for few more minutes
In a bowl, combine the tahini, water, lemon juice and salt until the mixture is smooth and creamy ( not runny)
Add the tahini sauce to the chickpeas and cook until it boils
Add the cubes of Kolkas and cook for another 5 minutes
Turn the heat off and leave to cool
Serve cold with salad and fresh bread.

Enjoy !

If you do not like it, then you are probably not cooking it properly. Tomato and onion sauce with potatoes and chicken - fresh bread and raw onion. Delicious!
