Chalk Paint
Does anyone know if you can buy 'chalk paint' in TRNC or across the border?
I want to paint some pine furniture and this type of paint is ideal for creating 'shabby chic' paint effect.

Re: Chalk Paint
I've not found any. Have you tried making your own?
I was told about this recently as I want to do the same with some bits of furniture.
I've got all the bits ready, now I need to get on with it!

Re: Chalk Paint
I'm obsessed with 'shabbying' my furniture.
Go onto PINTEREST and type in Chalk paint and there is soooo much info to help you.

Try it out on scrap wood first to get the finish you want. Sand it down with fine sand paper to get the finish you want, then seal with natural wax. Very much trial and error.
Have fun.

Thanks to everyone who has sent me a PM or posted a reply
I hadn't considered making my own chalk paint but having clicked on to link very kindly provided by three lizards I am looking forward to having a go. I read that plaster of paris substitute can be homemade using flour and water. I assume emulsion paint can be used rather than eggshell or gloss.

Re: Chalk Paint
I was advised to use emulsion. Be warned, it is only sold here in white and has to be mixed to the color you want. I got mine from the new Yapi Market next to China Bazaar, a 2.5 litre tin was 55 TL.
ps I have sent you a pm

Re: Chalk Paint
Chalk paint is easy to make really.
I mix talc or grout together with water to form a smooth paste then add it to Matt paint for a shabby look
