Hi can anyone recommend a pool builder? And does anyone have any idea at approximately how much it costs for a 8x3 overflow or a 10x4 overflow? I know it may vary to ground conditions but rough idea would be good. I'm looking at a villa in tatlisu area. Cheers

Depending on specification, between £16,000 and £18,000.
I can recommend several pool builders, also warn you about 1 or 2.

Take a look at the CDS web-site.

First class company run by two Brits who really know what they are doing.

Just had my pool completely re-tiled - top job and I know they construct pools.

My husband has recently been involved in construction of a pool in Tatlisu, subject to ground conditions he says an 8x4 overflow pool could be built for between £14,000 - £15,000. If you would like to see the pool that has just been finished please phone Stuart on 0533 861 2330.

Hi Lyndylou

Please get your husband to contact me as I have several pools I would like him to construct for me, for between £14 and £15 thousand.

For what it's worth my view.

Builders and swimming pools. A bit like having plumber to fit your carpets. OK some builders do know their stuff but most don't.

Just look at the amount of pools here that leak, normally from the top few row's of tiles. Because 99% of the time the pools are not cast in one. They make up the top to try to get the levels correct. A big no no. unless it is done correctly.

A good pool is cast in one, and it is essential that quality adhesives and grout are used and also high quality sealant prior to tiling.

One of the biggest mistakes also is so many over flow pools here have been constructed with cement/concrete type coping stones, these are not suitable for overflow pools they are designed for skimmer pools. They are totally useless and after 3 or 4 years will become rough porous and a major problem.

If you are having a pool built use someone who has experience and can show you previous work from maybe 5 years ago and see how the pool as stood the test of time.

I had over 30 years in the ceramic and bathroom trade and building commercial wet rooms, swimming pools etc. in the UK. It was horses for courses. IE you do not use normal Tile Adhesive and grout etc.

It is far far better to get the job done right in the first place , because in 2 years time when it starts to Hemorrhage your precious water and you can't find Bob the Builder or he's left the island You will regret it.

Get references and view completed work if some one is reputable they will have no objection.

Oh and make sure they are the ones who really built the pool they show you.... nothing like passing off someone else's work as your own.... it has happened.
