I am disenfranchised anyway, as I have not lived in the UK for over 15 years, which I consider most unfair as I still pay taxes etc. When I did have the vote, postal voting papers NEVER arrived on time and Proxy Votes were last minute - in one case my Proxy had to travel 20 miles to the Local Authority where I was registered to collect the forms in person, I complained to the Electoral Commission - a lengthy and time consuming procedure , but got nowhere, I was a lone voice crying in the wilderness.

I note that the complaints include ones from Germany and France so there is not even the "excuse" of lengthy postal periods of non EU countries.

In my opinion the treatment of expats by the UK Government is disgraceful. What we need is for an organisation like the BRS to get in touch with similar in other countries and make a concerted complaint, but appear apathy rules and "divide and win" applies.

RR I have to agree with all you say. We are treated with nothing but contempt by any UK Government.

BTW, I live in Germany, so I guess I was lucky to receive my voting papers OK.

I presume that my vote reached Peterborough in time

The 'Government of the day' can still make decisions that affect you, for instance: - Pensions / Pension entitlement / Tax on Pensions (when you get to be old enough ) Tax on your income, including Bank Interest (even though you are living abroad), entitlement to treatment on the NHS, entitlement to housing / benefits / hardship allowances etc (should you be unfortunate enough to have to return to the UK through unforeseen circumstances) - and many other matters.

As you are a UK citizen, you are entitled to cast your vote to determine which particular group of incompetents will be making those decisions.

Take a leaf from my book don't vote ,and have never wanted to as only one thing is the government always gets in .

Never been into politics or MPs as they are simply all liars and thieves .

Unfortunately for Scotland, I suspect that Cameron's policy of promoting a "Labour/SNP alliance"worked very well - he now has a majority government; does not need any support, and can now deny Scotland any and all assistance, benefits, investment etc. - his spoken words will be "granting Scotland more autonomy" or similar, while his meaning will be - "thanks, suckers - I don't need you now, so you'll get nothing from me...." - and that will apply to everywhere outside the southeast....

Ah, leave them alone. The poor overworked and underpaid MP's need all the money they can get. More so the even poorer Scottish MP's who work for practically nothing AND give some of their pay back to the public as well, hmmmm:

The above news article is obviously false and made up to make it look like the MP's have a better standard of living than the constituents that voted them into power - now that would never happen would it? Anyway, they all need to save or how could the possibly survive on their +26% of pay pension when they retire?
