A very interesting article on cyprusscene.com which Andrew sings..... fully and publicly support. We were happy to be part of the ASAP contingency that attended the meeting with the TRNC Department of Labour authorities.

Art, from an Andrew sings..... perspective we were given the opportunity to explain our position, and I am happy to share this. We told the authorities we had been attracted to live and work here due to the facility they had introduced that allowed entertainers like us to work freely and legally in multiple venues and thus earn a living whilst contributing positively to the economy and to society here within the TRNC. We explained however that we were disappointed that they also appeared to be turning a blind eye to those entertainers who come here for short periods of time and ignore the law to suit their own personal financial gain by working illegally and draining money from the TRNC economy. We explained that as legal entertainers we are proud to work closely with the local community and local businesses/organisations to support community activities (such as your Esentepe Fun Run and Tulips), and that the flagrant flaunting of illegal working by elements of the local media and a core of local businesses was counter productive to our efforts to provide an overall positive contribution to society and to the TRNC economy.

The authorities re-iterated their desire to uphold the law including the need to ensure all entertainers were legal from a work permit perspective as well as from a tax status perspective (and they made specific reference to TRNC kimlik holders here also).

Other entertainers who were present also made representations from their perspectives, and the outcome from the All Stars Agency Promotions perspective is documented in both the Cyprus Today and cyrusscene.com articles. I believe that ongoing monitoring of activities is taking place and because Andrew sings..... value our client relationships we have urged all of our clients to be careful when hiring entertainers and to ensure they check their legal and tax status before hiring them, and thus not place themselves at risk of heavy penalties.
