Cans for recycling
I did hear this was going to start up in Kyrenia. Anyone any news about it. I have been saving them since I first heard and have quite a lot.

Yes there was something in Cyprus Today a couple of weeks ago, but I've not had a chance to have a look round town yet. I'm assuming you have been round town and not seen anything. The article was vague - it didn't say where or when these bins would appear. I have been saving my cans since it was first mentioned, I am filling my second bag and hope these bins are set up before we go to the UK in four weeks time, else they will end up in the dustbin.

Thanks for your reply polkadot. I do know there is one in Nicosia just as you drive through Kyrenia gate but I do not go there often.

There's the rub - making a special trip to recycle is counter-productive (ecology-wise) unless you drive a 20 ton truck....foodie wrote:Thanks for your reply polkadot. I do know there is one in Nicosia just as you drive through Kyrenia gate but I do not go there often.
They really need to insist on re-cycling points at all supermarkets so that you can drop off as you buy more stuff without making extra journeys... come on TRNC Govt. do something!

Do not know where my response went!!
Sah the new supermarket in Catalkoy has 3 huge yellow recycle bins, on the far right as you look at store entrance. They take metal, plastic and paper.

I agree with Groucho, this is the most sensible option, but when has common sense come into it? I will check out Sah to see exactly what can be put in their bins. Could do with somewhere for glass bottles - one afternoon of boozing with friends filled a whole black sack!
