Turkish partner going to the South

Help, I am British and have been told that now I have married my Turkish partner after 6 months as long as we take our marriage book he can cross the border to the south side.

1. Is this correct after 6 months?
2. Do we need anything else apart from marriage book and passports?
3. Would he now be able to use Larnaca to fly to the UK as the journey would be shorter and less stressful for our 2 month old son.

If anyone has experience of this please let me know.

Thanks

Try the BHC for a definitive answer. It has a website.

yes I have taken my Turkish husband over, showing our marriage book. Just on a day trip.

But not sure about using Larnaca, have a feeling that wouldn't be possible.

Definitely consult the appropriate authorities Suggest you ask BHC as has been suggested, but also check with authorities in the Government as your first hurdle is the crossing point!

As to your son and travelling, don't forget that to go from Larnaca you have a good hour or more to get there. Far more hassle than going to Ercan, plus a break in flying might be good . I confess I have not flown to U.K. with a young baby,l but I have flown longer distances in the past with children, and I would have no qualms about flying say, |Pegasus from Ercan to U.K.

And it will be interesting to hear what the official answers are about taking a Turkish husband across. Obviously if one day he gets a |British passport, then that is no problem, but until then, it is an interesting question.

Good luck

Also I think you will find he will have had to arrived via Larnaca as the Greek Cypriots do not recognise Ercan as a legal point of entry.

Thanks everyone, we have come to the conclusion flying from Larnaca is not viable we will revert back to Ercan.

As expected Consulate gave no help, in fact they said to even cross the border he needs a visa and we already know hat is not true so will give up on them. Not good really!

Shell, you ought to re-contact the BHC and inform it of the erroneous advice given. It was not a surprise though - what a waste of public money!
