Interesting article in CT yesterday. Some folks have started a petition against the loud music from a local restaurant which goes on late into the night every weekend. The environment department that deals with such things say they cannot send anyone out to monitor this late night music as the can't send staff out after 3.30 pm but advise people to contact the police. However they also say that the police do not have the equipment to measure the decibels which is not supposed to exceed 50 decibels, seems as though it's going to be another long and very noisy summer for people living near this restaurant.

could they not loan this equipment to the police or arrange for one of their staff to works nights

They don't seem to have problems sending out the smoking police or the work permit police at night.
