Dodgy e-mail from Lloyds banking group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got an e-mail from the above telling me it is a bi-annual requirement for them to check my details accompanied by a link to "find my bank"
I don,t bank with Lloyds and would never click on a link to find my bank where I will have to answer just two questions.

I had same last week, never been a Lloyds customer. Just deleted it. Amazed where they get my email address from, plus name.

Just opened my emails for the first time today and I have 2 Lloyds emails. I use 2 email addresses and the one they have come through on is the one I use for forums in North Cyprus, so have to make of that what you will. Just deleted them.

It would be good if someone could send on to Lloyds a copy of these. Most businesses have a 'phishing@....' e mail address. It helps them to know who is taking their name in vain. And it means that they might catch whoever is doing it to protect others.

So, if anyone does get one, please send it on.

I alsways get tons of this rubbish. Most corporations have a 'spoof' address where you can just forward the scam email and they will deal with it

I have always been told not to open emails if you dont recognise the address as they may contain viruses. Presumably others are braver or know something I dont. Otherwise how does one send it on? Actually I dont think Lloyds, nor most financial institutions identify themselves by name on the subject box of emails, which does make it very difficult to separatethe wheat from the chaff and know what can be safely openened.

Any advise on this subject gratefully received.

hi Marion. I sent this on to the Lloyds spam email account. Please everyone never reply to these emails - you can get them purportedly from any of the UK banks. Just delete them or send them onto the bank 'phishing' email. You can get the email address from the particular bank web address.

Ragged Robin, I believe it is OK to open the email, just do not open any attachment that comes with it or any link they ask you to click on.
You can tell if it is spam if your it does not have your name, has undisclosed sender, or if reply is a different address to senders address.
If in doubt then just delete.

If you are on Hotmail it is very easy to report as phishing or to block. Just look at the headings at the top of the screen and there is an option for both these. No need to open E Mail. I now block all unknown E Mailers and have reduced the amount of spam tremendously

I think all banks should have a deposit facility that will only allow incoming money and that account has a linked account that this money can only be transferred to... i.e. you never give out the details of the second account only the first and they can only pay into that... no money can be drawn out of it as such. This way a lot more people would be a more comfortable with the on-line banking process.

Then you have a third account that will only pay out money on direct debits etc. when the money is held in another sending account.... they can only get at money you make available.

If anyone then tries to draw on this 'input-only' account the 'old bill' can be put straight on to them before they manage to salt any funds away.... not that they could as it only allows payment inwards. If anyone tries to draw on your out account they can only get at money you've put in for that purpose.

Its not rocket science and yet they don't seem to want to close this loophole. It's only a set of protocols that would tidy up the image of banking no end...

I have an account with one bank that I use solely for internet shopping; it normally has only two or three pounds in, but when buying something online, just before completing the purchase, I transfer the necessary amount from my other bank. The amount then gets taken by the seller almost immediately. As a result, if my card details from a purchase were ever hacked/obtained, the most I would lose would be the usually held two/three pounds....

I had one from Inland revenue telling me I was due a tax rebate, but when I went tot inland revenue site, they said they never inform you of tax rebate by e-mail!
