English language originated in Turkey

Just seen this on the BBC news web http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19368988 Claiming the English Language originated in Turkey 9000 years ago. If thats the case why I am finding it so bloody hard to learn?

wow, haven't read the article but for centuries it has been said that English comes from Germanic, but of course one then must ask from whence came German. If life as we know it started in the Mesopotamian basin, then maybe we should be speaking ancient hebrew or....................if you relaly want toknow, just google 'ogigins of the English language' and you will be so confused you won't believe anything you read.

good luck. Personally although i am FASCINATED by the origins of anything, I prefer to put my efnergy in trying to learn to communicate, especially as I know only too well as the Buddha said 'do not believe everything you hear /read'

the english language has a majority of french and/or latin roots
...but only in a dictionary that is, which misleads many people

the english themselves either were from germanic tribes like the
angles friesians jutes saxons etc
or at least acquired their language and culture in the 5th/6th century
rather like a hedgehog picks up fleas (cf., no hard evidence of pitched
battles, and no overwhelming proof of ethnic cleansing)

therefore popular words in english, the everyday language,are
obviously germanic: love, bread, house, blood, man, water, hit, day,
life, thank, street etc so the spoken language is mainly tutonic

curiously though, when the hittite language of central anatolia was
eventually decifered (it uses cuniform on clay pillows like babylonian)
it turned out that germanic words, amazingly, appeared in the text

there was one line in particular that read "give to him some water and"
(bread?)

the hittites were based in central turkey some 3000 years ago and
possibly beat rameses II in battle (despite his dodgy claims), but later
disappeared from the pages of history for unknown reasons
