What has happened to ASOK (Hyundai Dealers)?

Took my car for service to ASOK in Lefkosa and was in for a surprise. Apart from one person all the people I knew (including the "tea/ coffee lady) had been replaced. (Not sure about the service engineers as I didn't get to meet them). No Cem from whom I and I understand from many others, bought their car.

Asked questions to several employees as to what was happening and when the change occurred, but it seems no-one was prepared to provide answers. There were a number of suits around who seemed extremely important and aloof.

I latterly was given an invoice headed Ototurk Otomotiv Ltd.

Does anyone know what has happened?

Does anyone know anything about Ototurk Otomotiv Ltd? I was unable to find anything on the Internet.

And indeed what has happened to Cem?

If you go across the road to ASOK Nissan you may be able to find staff there who will put you in the picture. The Hyundai franchise changed hands last month and has been taken over by Ototurk Otomotive Ltd. As far as I know most of the original mechanics are still working there but as I hit the same problem as you last month I changed my service garage and now do not have to drive all the way to Lefcosia. I now use a local small garage in Ozankoy who have fixed many small faults that ASOK told me could not be fixed because of the age of my vehicle. I always found the service side of ASOK to be good but got fed up of being pestered to buy a new car whenever I was there. Good luck with your enquires, sorry I do not know Cem so can not say if he/she is still there.

Thanks Waddo.

Where abouts is the garage in Ozankoy? I might just give it a try. I, like my vehicle, am getting on.

I changed from Asok some time ago having used them for my Hyundai for several years. I now use Tiga who are excellent and always go "the extra mile" to provide first class service

As Stated by Waddo - Asok has been taken over. some of the original staff have left, including Cem.
I had my car serviced there whilst this changeover was going on, and i have to say i was not impressed by the atmosphere in the place. It seemed very clinical and impersonal.

For those of you who have Hyundias' which are still under warranty. be aware that the warranty states that all repairs should be carried out by authorised Hyundia dealers, and use only Hyundia spares.

Hyundai warranty/authorised dealers. Is this garage an authorised Hyundai dealer.before buying a car from 'an authorised dealer ' in TRNC I would check with the company HQ ie Hyundai that they will rectify any major problems under warranty if bought in the TRNC.
Turkey is recognised as is the south.I think you may find that the main dealers in TRNC are using dealers in Turkey to import the vehicles here, which is fine so long as the garages here will rectify major problems under warranty, but to do that Hyundai will have to recognise TRNC.
Just a thought.

Joe, Its the scruffy little place right on the corner of a four way road crossing - don't let the amount of old cars around there fool you and go ask for Mustafa inside. Before I changed to an "elderly" Santa Fe I had pajeros and always had them serviced there without any problems at all. I even got Mustafa to give my Santa Fe the once over in case I was being sold a pup but it got the thumbs up - it was then I learnt that he used to rebuild Hyundai engines for ASOK so I have no worry there.

Correct - Ozankoy Village - however, Erdiner Garage have always been good to me as well in the past, nothing bad to say about them or their service, its just that I have become used to Mustafa's scruffy (old UK) garage. Make sure you have your seats covered and clean your steering wheel/gear change before you drive away from there - lol.

Yes there were problems at Asok Hyundai I have it from various well informed sources that two of the Asok brothers have fallen out. Back in February when I purchased a used Santa Fee from Asok Hyundai the franchise was controlled by Hayati Asok, it is now under the control of his brother Mr Ali Asok. I have a friend who has had a car in for repair for over 8 weeks. I have visited Hyundai’s premises over the past 6 weeks and from my observations the workshop is active, I have my own suspicions as to why my friend’s car has been in their garage and I don’t think it is due to a lack of replacement parts.
The above could be taken as just rumour control because I have no way of proving it, but the following is 100% factual.

On the 28th February I purchased a used Santa Fee from Asok Hyundai, both my wife and I where delighted with the new car. At that time the lady salesperson informed us that the vehicle log book was locked away in the desk of one of the senior Managers and that the Manager was on holiday but Hyundai would ensure the car was re registered to our names within the next 7 days. 7 days transpired and no word from Hyundai so I phoned the Lady salesperson for an update on the log book, I was told that the log book was still secure but the Manager had extended her holiday and that everything would be sorted out within the next week, 10 days past and still no word from Asok so I contacted them only to be told that the senior Manager in possession of the log book had left the Company.
At this time alarm bells started to ring, I informed the sales person that I was not happy with this situation and unless the log book was in my possession within the next 10 days I would be returning the car and would require a full cash refund, 6 days later the sales rep phoned me and stated that they where still having problems but would give me a copy of the vehicle log book, I reluctantly agreed to this, once in receipt of the copy big alarm bells were now ringing.
On close inspection the log book had been falsified, it has now transpired that on the 28th February the car was owed by a bank as security for a loan, this is clearly fraud.
I will not bore the forum with all the numerous phone calls and e-mails sent to Asok until the e-mail I sent them on 27th May at which time I threatened legal action unless
I received a full cash refund.

This clearly had some effect; on the 10th June we had a meeting with Hayati Asok who is now the franchise holder for Nissan. I explained to Hayati Asok that he had caused both myself and my wife much anxiety and distress, he told me was very sorry about the problems he had caused and agreed to give us a full cash refund it was agreed that we would return to Asok Nissan on Tuesday 16th June, as agreed we arrived for the agreed meeting only to be informed that Hayati Asok was not available. We were advised to return the next day at which time we would have our money refunded. We returned the following day only to be told that we would now not be receiving a cash refund but were given the log book instead. You can imagine how angry we were to be blatantly lied to whilst the car is a fully loaded top spec model the last three and half months of aggravation has been very stressful. I will be trying to arrange a meeting with Mr Ali Asok (Hyundai) to see if they will do the right thing by us and purchase the car back from me. I will keep the forum informed but please be very, very careful if you are considering buying a car from Mr Hayati Asok (Nissan).
