Many years ago, when cliches were all the rage in the 70s, I had a boss who came out with things like "I think at this point in time, we should dip our toes in the water and take a canter through the scenario".
His team ran a book on which ones would come out at the weekly meeting

Using "dove" as in "dived into the water". A "Dove" is a bloody bird, not a verb.
AND
"You can get in FOR free" NO, NO, NO, "You can get in free"
AND
"high fives" wtf is that all about?

And when did a "railway station" become a "train station".

I also agree "railway station" rather than "train station" - though the problem is, should "bus station" therefore be "road station"....
...and while in my area, a tram ("light rail") system has taken over some railway lines and stations, everyone seems to still call the original stations "railway stations", while the newly-built lines and "stations" are usually called "Tramlines" and "Tram-stops".....

"Is there a bathroom near here?" or only marginally better - "restroom"!

What drives me mad is the newest addition 'go-to', meaning favourite , as in 'This is my go-to pasta recipe'.

The word "gotten". used in many American books.
I appreciate the fact it was used in our distant past as the past participles of get, got and gotten both date back to Middle English. The form gotten is not used in British English but is very common in North American.

I've just been to Walmart in Cape Coral Florida to get a sim card and credit for my mobile for the next month. The guy at the counter was incredibly helpful. First he took time to call the company and checked whether the package I'd chosen could be used for texts/calls to UK. He then offered to set everything up for me on my phone. This involved over 40 mins of calls to the provider as well as internet stuff having to be done. I've now decided....I don't care a hoot about Americanisms....customer service like that means so much and is so rare these days.

As with other posters the saying OMG over and over grates and another saying that people keep using when describing something they have thoroughly enjoyed is the saying 'to die for' (Don't know whether it originates for America) but itreally irritates me, no food or view or anything else for that matter is 'to die for'

"Accordingly, we call on all armed actors to stand down and take appropriate measures to deconflict and open channels of communication."
A typical example of American political double speak - "deconfict" for crying out loud!
I agree with kaiser phil : I am fedup with adjusting settings to UK English and still get spell checks forcing American spellings forced on me - can I claim racial discrimination?
