Hope for us yet....
Despite any and all the other problems and failings of this country, this is why I think the UK is still (one of) the best place(s) in the world in which to live.
No doubt some (possibly many) will say "stupidity and silliness", "it demeans our dignity", "politicians (of either house) should know better", and many other criticisms, but to me it shows that we can still find humour in life, that at any level we can pause and indulge in a little light-hearted eccentricity now and again...
It shows that when push comes to shove, we can (sometimes reluctantly) stand up both for ourselves and others, but we can also always have a laugh at ourselves.
Perhaps - hopefully - other countries can do the same, but perhaps we just don't see it reported.....

And we pay these people just how much a day????? I can now rest peacefully in the sure and certain knowledge that "Peers" are spending my tax money on the important things in life. Oh how glad I am that I never had to work as hard as them when I was employed. I am grateful that the EU is also on the ball with regard to this vital subject - what a wonderful it must be.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.
