Re: Best place for carpet cleaning?
I have recently seen a lot of carpets hanging to dry ..
I think that coming from Girne straight on at the roundabout past Electrocur ..
Left at the next roundabout (heading toward the Bellapais traffic lights)
Immediately after turning at this roundabout there is a place on your right ..
Hope this makes sense ..

I think Harita is describing the place we use. From the Coast road, left at Salties, through the traffic lights and just past the parade of shops on the LHS, car wash and carpet cleaning place. Our big rug is currently there and they have cleaned it twice before with no problems.

Most locals use a car wash facility.

Thank you all.
I know most car cleaning places also clean carpets but I wanted someone to post who they had used and whether they had done a reasonable job!
Many thanks, I will go to the one suggested above!

If it is a good quality Wool or Natural Fibres rug or carpet, I wouldn't take it to a car wash!
They're fine for synthetics, but anything made from natural fibres is liable to shrink / distort and also you could find that the colours might run...
A carpet cleaning machine with a suitable detergent - '1001 3-in-one'? - would be advisable.

Lapta Laundry - tel: 0542-8593963. They have a proper high quality machine and will either clean carpets at the laundry or come to your house. They also do upholstery. Have used them for a number of years now and they do a really good job at a very reasonable price.

KeithCaley our rug is an expensive hand made Turkish wool and silk rug. It hasn't distorted or shrunk and this is its third visit to the aforementioned establishment. They do know how to treat various materials we have found.

Oh, that's good.Panchocat wrote:KeithCaley our rug is an expensive hand made Turkish wool and silk rug. It hasn't distorted or shrunk and this is its third visit to the aforementioned establishment. They do know how to treat various materials we have found.
It was just that I had an 'unfortunate experience' with the carpet cleaning service at one of the car washes - I think that they just used a general purpose detergent and a pressure washer!
Never again...
