New Kibtek Electricity Meters

Just had the Kibtek crew around to install a new digital meter, did not ask for it and nothing wrong with old one. They told me that every old meter is being changed to the new type. New meter is an ISKRA ME382 single phase meter which I think was zero set on installation. Did not have to sign for anything and the old meter was removed and taken away, paperwork filled out by the Kibtek guys on site and I was told that in 2 or 3 days the new meter would be read and the total of the old reading (67932.5) and the new meter would be added together and then the previous reading for last months bill would be subtracted and a totaled bill issued. Forgot to ask how much the new meter might cost me but found them on the Internet for £150.00 so will now wait and see if I get a normal bill plus 650TL more - lol. Downloaded the user manual for this new meter but would not bother if I was you, 206 pages of it!! Looks like the new meter will be read by an IR reader which may prevent wrong billing - not holding my breath on that one! Interesting meter that is able to do many things including remote connection and disconnection as well as remote reading BUT it needs a SIM card for that - technology in motion, almost!!!

We also live in Catalkoy & had the new meter since end of April, had the first two bills already & no extra for the meter.

We've had these meters for a few months and I have noticed that quite a few of the readings do not match what's displayed on the meter. Most recent was about 400 units out...

We also have had the new meters for a while, the first bill after installation came completely blank, not even our name on it, we will see what the next bill total is when it arrives.......

Panchocat, we had the same thing and I thought we would get a double bill the following month but what they did was issue an interim bill about a week before the next reading and as we pay by direct debit the first we knew was when we got a text from the bank saying x amount was going to be taken from our account the next day. We pay for some of our neighbours who live in UK so luckily we had enough in our current account to cover all the bills.

Thought you all would like this one, our KibTec account for March was 594030.67TL. or so our "Smart meter" told Kibtec. Considering the electricity was switched off by us from the main fuse box in December when we left this was a surprise. We reported the issue to one of our TC neighbours (who knew someone at Kibtec) and within a couple of days the meter was checked by Kibtec and our account was corrected before the money came out of our TC bank account (direct debit). Well done Kibtec! We were informed that water had got into the meter!!

A neighbor had a smart meter fitted with the result of £1000 bill for the first month, after several trips to kib-tec and disconnection by them saying that the meter was OK they eventually discovered that they had not set the meter to zero .

If money was available in their account it would have been taken, they still had to pay for re-connection with no apology

I used to work for a major power company in uk and fitted these so called meters, the process of fitting them was discontinued years ago,the reason non reliable readings, wrong billings and electrical pulse problems, they were all removed and the previous meters re-fitted.

OK, it is now the 14th of July - that is about 2 or 3 days since the 6th of July in Kibtek counting systems - and still had no bill or meter reading! My TC neighbour had his meter fitted at the same time as mine, only found out it had happened three days after the event and was a little put out as his electric had been off all day and he had been out to work! After talking to him he tells me that the "New" meter is read from the Kibtek office and that nobody now comes to read the meter, just to issue bills. Makes me wonder a little as half of the meters in my area are the old style ones and they were all read on the 10th of July yet the new style ones have received no bills.

So my question - at last - is this: Is there anyone who knows how the new meters are read and if so do you still get a paper bill in your electric box/letter box or do you have to wander down to Kibtek to find out how much your bill is yourself?

I do not and will not pay them by direct debit. All answers gratefully received. By the way, I am also told that Kibtek can now cut off your electric remotely if you do not pay your bill - interesting as they don't seem to issue bills, lol.

We have the new style meter and still get a bill every month although as previously mentioned it doesn't necessarily match up with the kWh reading on the meter. Trouble is that the meter cycles through about 4 different readings, I go by kWh but have no idea what the other ones are, I guess they may be for places where there are different tariffs. I would be interested to find out if anyone knows.

Sorry, but you did ask - lol. Now just sit down with a crate of beer and nothing else to do for a week and let me know what you understand. It is now that I wish I had paid more attention to my basic electricity class instead of watching the girls out of the windows - lol.

Thanks for the answer, I take it that you still get a paper bill thrust in your box or wedged in your gate or simply chucked near your house every month???? Or is it because you pay by direct debit that you don't get a paper bill at all?

Would like to hear from somebody who also pays with cash in the office - not direct debit - and has one of the new meter's. Thanks.

We got the bill this week that included the last bill from the old meter and the reading from the new meter. Will trot down to the office in town to pay later in the month.

It took a couple of months for our bills to go back to normal. Initial bill showed no usage, then we were in credit then it sorted itself out. We pay cash in the office and get bills as normal every month.
