Been twice to the newly opened Patna Thia restaurant, formerly the Lemon Tree in Catalkoy.
Great food, fantastic staff/ service.
Wishing them every success for the future.

Yes he does do Chinese. He said he is waiting for his shipment from Thailand to expand his menu and complete the look of the place. He expects to open from lunch time maybe next month. Wife really enjoyed his Mia Thia cocktail. His crispy duck with noodles, is superb.

Coming from Girne go past the new Sha supermarket and this place is almost directly opposite the Supreme supermarket..
Bo Thia is much further up the road.

That is three times you've typed Thia instead of Thai - it wouldn't matter unless some does a search and then your recommendation would not come up - so you might like to amend your thread... Or don't....

Been twice now and my original comments stand. Nice people trying hard food a bit expensive and many(what I have tried) dishes are of bland taste, nowhere near the quality of the Greeen Lotus now if they had a restaurant...................? horses for courses I do understand and I will try them again, time will tell.

Green Lotus???

I was there only a few weeks back collecting my take away and was shocked and disgusted at the owners behaviour & foul language. He messed up my order royally and gave it to another customer.... Okay, so mistakes happen so I was very polite and said I would wait for my order to be done again.

However...... A gentleman was looking at the menu trying to decide what to order. The owner was becoming rather frustrated with the customer who was rushed along to place his order. When the owner told him it will take 45-55 minutes for his take away, the customer jokingly suggested they need more staff. To be honest, it made me chuckle because it does take a long time even for a small order.

The owner absolutely erupted shouting a barrage of swear words at the customer, telling him to p**s off and go somewhere else, blah blah blah (I won't repeat the rest). I was actually quite frightened as I was on my own at that time and was hoping he wasn't going to start on me. I will never return to that place again. The customer did not deserve to be treated or spoken to that way. It is no way to run a business or how to keep customers. Word gets around and sadly he has lost custom due to his behaviour.

Well we have only had positive experiences with Green Lotus. From the off he has said that you must order in advance and agree a collection time. Every meal we have had has been delicious, and we have never had any mistakes except once when he tried to give me too much change. Green Lotus is the best value for money in Cyprus in my view.

I don't know who you are, but I am very suspicious of your motives for knocking this excellent establishment.

Likewise. We have been 'fans' when they were doing meals to heat up at Lambousa and we remain so. Good food and excellent value. Yes you have to pre order but if that is the 'price' for consistent quality and value it is one we have no problem with.

Indeed Erol actually quite like "Pre ordering" sort of makes sense and has worked very well.

Had an excellent meal at the Panta this evening.

Friendly staff and good service. All the meals we ordered were very good. The red curry looked watery, but that is the way we had it in Thailand, and the taste was very authentic and it was delicious. Extra rice was provided on request at no extra cost.

Good value for money and we will visit again.

Disclaimer - this is just my personal opinion on the meal we had today.

Frontalman - I only used to use the Green Lotus, albeit just from time to time. And agreed, the food is wonderful. I have no problem driving from Ozankoy to collect either. My problem is the way he spoke to a fellow customer that evening. If you saw a restaurant owner speak to another customer the way he did would you think twice about going back?

Firstly, this is a takeaway, not a restaurant. Secondly, I don't get involved in other people's disputes and swearing would only bother me if it was aimed at me or if there were children around at the time. And thirdly, I would have to spend some time working behind the desk and taking orders myself, dealing with all kinds of 'customers' before I would rush to judgement. For me the food is the most important thing, the proprietor of Green Lotus has always treated myself and other customers (while I've been there) with the utmost respect. If you caught him on a bad day then I'm sorry.

Firstly - I am fully aware it is a take away.
Secondly - I did not get involved in his argument/ dispute. I was a mere bystander
Thirdly - Running your own business dealing with customers face to face every day requires a small thing called Customer Service. Regardless if he was having a "bad day", you cannot and should not treat customers that way, especially in front of other customers who are gracing his till with their money.

The food at the Green Lotus is excellent and we will be back for more, however, I do think that Gdrunk has a valid point. Just my opinion, of course.

He/she has a valid point, he/she won't be making the long journey there again. The rest of us who enjoy this establishment have also made valid points. Panta is in Catalkoy, Green Lotus is in Alsancak, so they aren't really in any kind of competition. Long may they both thrive. God bless Oriental cooking.

Frontalman, I think it very poor form for you to make implicit accusations in this manner with absolutely no proof.... bad show.

I said I was suspicious, that's not an accusation. However I still am! I am a suspicious person who often jumps to the wrong conclusion! I do like the establishment in question, however, and would not like his business affected by one person's alleged one-off bad experience.

People have the right to compliment a place/person, share their experiences of establishments. People can off complain about their food, bad customer service and tell others if they wish. As stated in my earlier posting, I have no problem with the food but the guy has spoilt it now because of his attitude, foul language that no lady wants or needs to hear and his bad customer service skills. I wish hi a great future & the Green Lotus but I shall not grace his doorstep again.

End of debate I think.
