Turkish Keyboard query

I have just purchased a new wireless keyboard and mouse. This will be the 4th keyboard PC, laptop etc that I have bought over the years here. In the past I have always had them adapted and stuck replacement letters and numbers on the keys where necessary. This time I'm going to try and adapt myself, rather than the keyboard, by using the Turkish version. Do many of you do the same and have you benefitted? I don't do much typing which necessitates Turkish letters, but it would be nice to do so when I can.

I use a turkish keyboard at work and now have trouble with a 'normal' one!
Just remember to use the i with the dot on the second row and not the top one for lowercase and the top row I for uppercase!

Its not just the I though is it? What about a) silent g, b) u and o with umlauts, and the s and c with hooks. Still going to give it a bash!

I use a Turkish keyboard for the same reasons as Sophie suggests, I dont write in Turkish but I like to get the names and addresses right. Sophie just in case you did not know you can set your computer for English or Turkish: just change over when you want to put the Turkish letters with accents in.

Its easier for me as I touch type in English, but have to look at the keys for Turkish. Apart from the bother of switching languages, the main snag of a Turkish keyboard is that some of the other keys (eg punctuation marks and things like pound £ and dollar $ signs are in different places) but you get used to it in time.

The iiiiii and ııııı must be learnt,and if you create a new password better not to create them wıth iiii or ııııı to start with

fatouche, don't think I'm going to have enough fingers. Isn't there a simpler way?

I agree there are not enought fingers for some wp processes!

Sopie: Have you got both Turkish and English set as languages - I find it much easier that way. If so £ is upper case 3 on English setting - that is press Caps key and No3. If not you set it up from the Control panel on "my Computer" but I'm not quite sure how, so better wait for an expert to come in: or perhaps do another post asking how to set languages.

I tried putting little stickers on the keys first, but could not find some of the punctuation marks! I ended up buyng a wireless turkish keyboard and work between the two of the when necessary. Works fine for me.
