Amore in esentepe
We went to amore last night to take part in the quiz that suzi runs after enjoying the one she does at the bistro bar last week. When we arrived there were lots of empty tables but they were all set out with plates and cutlery, a waiter met us and we asked could we have a table to have a few drinks while we took part in the quiz, I added that we didn't need menus as we had already eaten, he said we could sit on the sofas by the bar. When we got our drinks we noticed that the light was so poor up there that we didn't have a hope of taking part in the quiz as it was so dark up that end you couldn't see the sheets to write any answers on. I asked the waiter was there any chance of clearing the set places off one of the empty tables for us to use and he point blank refused, I then asked could he or I bring one of the ten or so unset tables from inside for us to use, he once again refused saying if I wasn't eating I wasn't sitting at a table. I was so annoyed I paid for my drinks and left. What annoyed me the most are there are so many of the bar owners and staff that would bend over backwards for you out here ( Mo at marina bar, any of the lads at bistro and javid at fine dining in particular) that the staff in this particular establishment should escape criticism. My final point on the matter is there were 4 of us and even though we didn't want to eat I estimate we still would've been spending around 200 TL, I'd be suprised if looking round the bars this summer any of them could afford to turn that down.

Well done Amore staff, you've just cost your boss some badly needed custom and earned further reputation for 'non-service.' How pleased you must be!

unless the owner is a member i doubt he will get to know how useless his staff are and going to cost him a lot of money
totally agree with the other comments about the other restaurants, much more welcoming.

Re: Amore in esentepe
I was at the quiz on Monday evening and all the tables were full with people eating. Could it be possible that these tables were reserved in advance? Ramazan was there throughout the evening and so would have been aware of what his staff were doing. The outside area
around the pool is small and another table would make it virtually impossible to get past to either the bar or the kitchen. Whenever I have visited Amore, the staff have been extremely efficient and welcoming. Please do not make comments unless you were actually there. Both Ramazan and all the staff who work at Amore work very hard to make a living in a very competative market.

It would appear from post 1, he/she was there - hence the theme of the topic was raised. Is nobody entitled to comment, whether they were present or not?

Tom Steel
I am only telling it how it was as a visitor on that particular evening. If you have taken offence at my posting then I am sorry.

No offence taken, nor did I think it was intended. However, forums are places/sites for discussion, else they serve little purpose. I'm glad you enjoyed your experience at Amore, even though the poster obviously did not.

I cannot comment on the quiz night as I was not there.
I (and the other half) have eaten at Amore several times and have always been warmly welcomed by Ramazan and his staff, they are always pleasant and service efficient.

The butlers wife I'd like to know if you was there at the time?? If not what gives you more right to comment than anyone else? What I will say is that we are back at bistro tonight where suzie is full of apologies for the way I was treated by her employers that night so maybe it's you who needs to check the facts before being so condescending to people who are on this thread! But thanks for defending the obviously incompetent staff from amore

This could develop into a row. Why not just allow the original poster to air his/her view of their experience on the specific night without the need to opine on other personal experiences of the venue other nights? It is personal opinion.

Re: Amore in esentepe
For the benefit of the butlers wife i saw Ramazan at another function last night it was brought to his attention by a friend the problem that I'd had in amore (I had no idea what Ramazan looked like) he was full of apologies and assured this never would've happened had he been made aware of it. He was angry as I suspected he would be when finding out his staff had acted this way he even offered to buy me a drink if I'd go back to amore and have a chat with him and give him a chance to talk. so it seems your "eye witness account/speculation" was unfounded.

Dan 3006,
When we went to Amore last monday evening there were 4 of us, we were the 1st people to arrive. We went to our usual table
and were told that the table was reserved, as were most of the tables. We asked where we could sit and were shown to another table
where we were eating and drinking. When I said that the tables were probably reserved, I meant in advance by diners. I did notice
that the waiters were scarce that evening and remarked on this to Ramazan, who told me that his brothers were having an evening off.
Maybe this was why they were unable to find you a table. I don't know you and you don't know me but I do know Ramazan and can only speak as I find. I was at Suzies quizz on Thursday evening and she told me she was going to speak to Ramazan. I now understand from your posting that things have now been settled and you have received an apology. All the restaurants are competing with each other for business particularly in the winter months and going on an open forum and complaining can sink a business here. There are lots of forum members who like nothing better than to join in and kick a dog when it's down. If I have offended you by my loyalty to Amore I apologise and if you are at the quizz on Monday evening I will buy you a drink as well.
