Refugees and the Muslim world.
A little question to debate:
What are mega-rich countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates doing about the current refugee crisis?
If they are doing nothing, why are they doing nothing?

Re: Refugees and the Muslim world.
Like me, you've obviously been watching most if not all of the News Channels. The other question being asked are, why are countries not separating those people who were suffering from persecution from those who are economic migrants. I watched a group being interviewed in CNN a couple of days ago who wanted to jump the queue because they could afford to buy tickets and wanted to go to Northern Europe because it was years quicker than applying for Visas and going to long way round. This way they were getting into the country of their choice. I would have thought if you are a genuine refugee and running away from the bombing etc in Syria and the cruelty of IS, then any country you got to land in has got to be better than that.
I watched a woman yesterday who was just about to sign immigration papers and when she realised they weren't for German she clearly said "I wish to go to Germany and no where else" When I think of refugees during the second world war, they were just grateful to get out. Maybe I'm missing something here? As to the way these people are being abused by the traffickers, words fail me.

Re: Refugees and the Muslim world.
Although Syrians can go to UAE they cannot get Visas, too costly. They need to already have family in UAE and mostly migrant workers come from Asia and those quotas are being cut. It's too expensive for them to make a living there and in reality they are not wanted there.TRNCVaughan wrote:A little question to debate:

Re: Refugees and the Muslim world.
With respect, I think you are missing the point.
The situation in UAE makes going there for safe refuge a non-starter.
That should not relieve the UAE for contributing cash/aid towards the efforts of other countries who are struggling to cope with dealing with the refugees.
Is this where Muslim solidarity stands back and lets Christian countries look after their fellow Muslims?

Re: Refugees and the Muslim world.
Trncvaughn,The other question is what are the mega-rich religions doing.Catholic church, church of England,Islam
and lots of others who are 'supposedly' caring organisations.
They could actually make themselves useful for once by letting displaced people use churches as accommodation,
We have now got Justin Welby Archbishop of Canterbury doing what he does best interfering with politics instead of
using the vast sums of money the church has to help relieve the suffering.
The Catholic Church is one of the richest organisations on the planet, what are they doing other than covering up crimes committed by priest.
Not once have I seen any spokesperson come out from one of the religions and state what they are doing to help.
They should all be ashamed.

Re: Refugees and the Muslim world.
Agree Arab nations should be helping. I watch news twice or more a day see all these men, not a lot of women. What frightens me is that Isis has already said they will send many Isis soldiers under the guise of refugees into Europe. Taking into consideration we have more people living in UK (tiny island) than any EU member countries it is impossible to have another 4,000. The picture of that darling child has had the desired effect. Think of all those other children that have drown since March. Blair and Bush have a lot to answer for.

Re: Refugees and the Muslim world.
I see on Cyprus Scene the TRNC President has added his condemnation of the EU regarding the refugee crisis. That's a bit rich given the TRNC approach to recent Syrian refugees who arrived by boat and within 24 hours were deported to Turkey for that country to manage the problem, plus there is no condemnation of the 'non-role' of the Arab Union leaders (fellow Muslims). Does the TRNC President expect only Christians to manage this crisis, it would appear he does? How many refugees will he agree to accept here?

And there's Moore,I have just seen the Pope trying on new glasses and being mobbed as if he is a celebrity. Why is he not setting an example by making his way to Hungary, Calais or any other troubled spot and start handing out food and water.

Re: Refugees and the Muslim world.
Its simple to me...If all the EU countries along with Turkey and the US put 3m boots on the ground and rid the world of this evil ISIL all the refugees would simply go back home ? Problem solved.

Re: Refugees and the Muslim world.
But would they Turtle? Leaving aside the tragically poor totally homeless inhabitants who have been bombed, raped and god only knows what. The vast majority of economic migrants - 90% of whom appear to be male and have got the smell of Europe in their nostrils wouldn't go back. If there was someway for the UN etc to help those who genuinely need help then fine, but the hordes of men fighting to get on a train to "the promised land(s)" does concern me. We tend to be talking about those from Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan but what is happening to the women and young children who have walked from the middle of Africa to escape Boko Haram as well as IS? We don't seem to hear or see anything about them now.

Re: Refugees and the Muslim world.
As Sandman and Rocking both state--- Blair in part orchestrated this problem... with the escalating financial cost it would be nice to see Mr & Mrs Blair donating much of their collective wealth to charities that help these unfortunate soul. If Blair cannot will not come clean... if he will hide behind Chilcot and a suppressed report... if he will not stand before the war crime court in Holland... at least he could pay something towards the cost innocent tax payes pay!!!! But then that would cost him time and delay him putting his nose into others affairs and he may miss a lucrative aftr diner speech!!!!

Re: Refugees and the Muslim world.
Jorden is a small muslim country with no natural resources of it's own and lies next door to Syria. It has taken in thousands of
both Syrian and Palestinian refugees and is struggling to cope with feeding and sheltering these poor people.

Wouldn't it be generous of Saudi Arabia to bankroll Jordan? They are so rich it would hardly cost them anything.the butlers wife wrote:Jorden is a small muslim country with no natural resources of it's own and lies next door to Syria. It has taken in thousands of

Hi TRNC Vaughan,
I totally agree with what you are saying, unfortunately Jordan is mainly sunni muslim and Saudi Arabia is mainly Wahabi
and there lies the problem. If you think of protestants and catholics and the conflicts they have had, then it is nothing to
the differing muslim sects.
